Sport/Life is amazing, no matter how many times you dont quite make it, no matter how many times you feel like quitting, no matter how many times you question yourself.... The moment will come when it all comes together, it all makes sense and its all been worthwhile... Live it, breath it, love it!

Glorious stuff! Great memories especially with El Guerrouj winning two gold medals in the 1500/5000.

I was on the piss two years ago with Andreas Thorkildsen who won the javelin in Athens. The most down to earth humble guy you could meet and you nearly had to squeeze the story from Athens out of him, in fact I don't think he even spoke about it except normal stuff like the pain of getting up in the morning for training, buying a house, having to cook dinner, all normal sh*t. That night was the most surrreal night as I played blackjack with a roll call of *******ns, olympic medalists and champions. On one side would be Adam Nelson (silver in the shot), on his shoulder having a look but not betting was Gatlin and Wariner (winners of 100 & 400). Meanwhile Tim Mack (Pole Vault champ) was being carried to bed as he was unable to stand - was an end of season bash and they were letting the hair down. It proved for serious name dropping fodder for a few months after (and even now!!). Mental stuff but got across that these guys were normal people, flesh and blood but who could do almost superhuman things. Anything is possible, once the genes are right.

To be an *******n is the ultimate, always dreamed of it as a kid (most of us did) but never got there. The goal now is to coach an *******n.
