Been looking at the Dboys range for a month or two now - good to know they live up to the hype...

One point, that coke can rule of thumb thing is sh1t. drinks cans come in various thicknesses so the US ones probably arent the same as ours. My aug will go straight through a pepsi at 10ft but not a coke at the same distance.

yet more proof that coke is better then pepsi...:D

Well, no - inconsistency (lack of accuracy, if you prefer) is why it's considered a 'rule of thumb'

By the way, 9 meters is 27 feet, give or take a foot - so that's one bb in the coke can at 27 feet...

...I might have to reconsider attending that whole 'CQB' HRTA thing :o:D

once it's under/at 1 joule you'll be fine, most of the rental guns are approx. 1 joule anyway

besides, we mostly play outdoor these days :D

    Not what I meant ;)
Assuming the M4 is more-or-less at 1J, I really really don't fancy being on the receiving end of one
Guess I'll just have to be [unreal tourny announcer]God-like[/unreal tourny announcer] then :D

Ffs lads, this is a review. Cut the BS lads, Oisin come on man...sort this out. Ambro wrote a really REALLY nice review, obviously took some time to write it (instead of the other people on here who just copy and paste reviews from other sites and claim there their own) and they just hijacked his thread and made it a bloody spam mess to increase their post count(only logical reason I can see for it).

I agree. I thought they might have noticed my hint earlier...anyway. Thread will now be despamified.

    Edit\ Christ that's a lot of spam.

Back on topic, seriously nice review man. I always HATED the armalite series but Im actually considering buying one of these now with a 203 after I upgrade my P90.

I was never an armalite man myself. But full metal at that price can't be beat. I just hope it shoots as good as you say!

From HRTA earlier today, figures after less than 500 rounds from new, Paul firing 0,2 Maruis in semi into the chrony -

    Shot #1 - 322
    Shot #2 - 315
    Shot #3 - 325
    Shot #4 - 324
    Shot #5 - 322

    Review now concluded :)

@ petergriffin - €160 for AEG (with all the goodies), extra 1400 mah battery and 2 extra mags (metal), shipped. Of that, shipping was about the €60 mark. Customs was on top, so €184 total.

Am I looking at the right gun? Also was the total price 160 including the custom charges and delivery? 1 last thing Im new to importing AEG's is the custom charge payed at your door when its delivered or at the post office depot. Sorry about all the questions I am a total noob. Also great review buddy.

You pay the delivery guy, cash or cheque.

If cash, try have lots of change....I think you need the exact amount.

    Hi All,
Excellent review Ambro. I am planning on getting the 'Dboys' M4A1 RIS AEG (BI5181 - metal). Looking at the two guns the only difference seems to be the RIS rails on the 5181 as they are both BIM4 series so should have the same motor and gear box and so on. Has anyone bought the 5181?
    Thanks lads.
    Max.

Good review, i hadnt made up my mind on which m4 to get but think ill be getting the one ambro got, for that price how can you go wrong.

    You can't go wrong.

The worst is mentally and financially accomodating the modding ideas you then constantly get for it, Pokemon-stylee (gotta get them all! :D).

I've already got a red dot on it, got my eyes on Keith's short version of the ACE stock by ACM, and still trying to work out a way of shortening the front end without butchering the inner barrel or changing it (atm, Guarder front outer (M933/commando version) and Noveske KX3 - waiting on WGC or anywhere else to restock on the M933 part before ordering the lot). Then again, maybe just a 100mm silencer? Or just an XM177 flashhider (looks like a long affair, but can't find actual length anywhere)? I need 90 to 100mm.

Ambro would you have gone for one of the CQB versions that seem to be a bit shorter on the front end?

    MaxForce wrote:

I would have gone for the CQB/R version, specifically - from the reviews I've seen, I reckon the other CQB version (with the Troy Silencer) has an inner barrel just as long as the M4A1 version. Simply because it would be easier to make it longer if I wanted to, than now shorter.

But it's entirely a question of personal taste: I doubt the internals (save for the barrel length) are any different, so don't let me influence your choice in that regard.

    :)

Ambro, can you give me a link or tell me the exact name of the battery you bought along with that m4, im about to order mine. Also, you reckon a scope would go well with that gun as i feel like splashing out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,877 ✭✭✭liamo333

Get an aimpoint replica off ehobby. They look great.

The battery is the one sold by Keith, I think it's 'Firefox' or 'Intellect' - it's the 8,4V 1400maH mini-battery on his site (only one there!)

The red dot I've got for it is this one from this same eBay shop (I did put a 'recommend' for them in the retailers' thread). It looks very similar to an 'Aimpoint' replica, but is somewhat more slender... so it actually looks better! (IMHO)

I'd post a pic of mine with it on if I could, but my wife's away with the digital cam and my phone cam is absolutely sh1te.

Needless to say, the M4 minus the carry handle and with the red dot on, looks the proverbial dogs' nads :)

And when I'll eventually have a short ACE stock, the shorter M933 outer barrel and the Noveske or Typhoon flashhider on, it will be teh sexeh! :D

Get yerself to HRTA Saturday and you can have a look/feel ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Just take the product ref codes (5 or 6 digit number on the left) and email them to him, if he has your money he can send them as soon as he gets the details. With his record friendliness e shouldnt mind.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,542 ✭✭✭kinkstr

Sure hope so, i sent an enquiry thing through the RSOV website with all the details of what i had actually ordered so it should be ok.
Sorry for going way off topic.

    Hi...
...at the end, after one month by the review (i hope that someone have used the gun in a combat :D )...if I have the intention to buy this gun, what do you advaise me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,994 ✭✭✭ambro25

I've only skirmished it once so far (all day yesterday) and it's not given me one bit of bother. The hicaps have, however - two of them alternatively don't seat properly or unseat halfway through a burst, so off with the hicaps and on with the midcaps.

But I'm not gonna make your mind for you: if you like what you see, if it's what you want, if you've done all your homework and you're still coming back to it, then go for it.

Just bear in mind that, as good a rep as DBoys are making for themselves atm, I understand from various online sources/feedback/reviews, that there's still lemons coming out the factory (as with all Chinese manufacturers), so on your head be it.

    Close enough ;)

    SP(anish) = Revolución
    FR(ench)= Révolution

I don't mind the loss of ammo capacity - I didn't shoot that much at all Saturday (what with bang-killing everyone :D ...who needs BBs, eh? :D:D)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 60 ✭✭petergriffin20

Hi guys I got this AEG this morning but I am having some issuses on getting it to fire. When I put the mag in doesnt seem to fire any BB's now I noticed this wind up part at the bottom of the mag and I spun and the BB'S began to feed to the top so tried again and nothing. This is my first AEG and I havent a clue so some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
