Anyone know where i can get one in Dublin?

desperate to get one at this stage.

There is a shop on the Quays. TempleCom, possibly? They had some the other day.

Keep trying Argos website, its really the only way you can reserve one with Argos if they have one in stock. The website allows you to reserve one, the phone doesn't.

You can also leave deposit with Smyths and they'll order you one.

Harvey Norman are advertising all over the place that they have them in stock so you could try there too

Not anymore. I'm pretty sure everywhere in the center is sold out of them.

Yeah Harvey Norman have been advertising all over the place actually and a very good deal also!

I got mine in Argos a couple of weeks ago. I literally checked the reserve site every couple of hours for all the branches I would go to. Got lucky.

I got mine ages back when they were still very scarce. I went in to GAME in Blanch asked when their Deliveries came in and when they expected stock. Then tuned up about 30 mins after their delivery time. If you can find a decent soul in one of the shop to give you the info I reckon thats your best bet.

Komplett advertising a few coming in 27/11, although they've lashed up the price.

Otherwise try adverts.ie for a secondhand one. I got one there a few weeks ago.

    Good luck!

Haha Harvey Norman, I remember last year they didn't stock any Nintendo products & pushed for a Sony Christmas :D

Game Stop on Liffey Street (I think) had a few in stock this afternoon. Various packages, the lowest being at €250

That's not gonna work. We're not told if we're getting Wii's now in order to stop people telling their friends when to come in and buy them :(

I was in there earlier. they have lots of packages advertised but when you ask they have no Wii's. Annoying.

None to be had in Cork.
Signs up on every game retailer's window, and Smyth's aren't even taking deposited on them before Christmas.

here, relax. there is always this whole bullsh1t hype built up from retailers saying "oh we arent getting anymore... " or some other crap but its all lies. there is always steady amounts coming in. Mario galaxy is out on friday and I guarantee you Nintendo have held off a lot of wiis for the launch of mario.

Not much of a gamer, haven't really played much since I got married and had kids, so I'm pretty much in the dark about most of this. Too busy playing online poker anyway!!!

Eldest child (8) is looking for a Wii for Christmas and obviously they are hard to find in Ireland. Been looking on e-bay and there are tons available, some at reasonable prices too. My query is however; is it safe to buy one online? Are the models all the same or is there more recent versions available? Is there a difference between the UK Pal/European/American versions? Anything else I need to be aware of or should I keep searching in Ireland until I get one?

    Any advice welcome and appreciated.

seem to have stock, They say shipping 3-14 days. Its OK for these guys that have one or are not intrested in buying one. Can you imagine the look on my 4 year old face when Santa does not deliver:eek:
I would drive the lenght of the country to get one
Limerick is complety sold out, I have tried everywhere.
If I come across one before my one ships I will buy it better to have two than none :D

A friend of mine in PayPal says they're getting an awful lot of people filing undelivered claims for Wiis bought on eBay... I'm sure most of those on sale are genuine (though the prices will get higher and higher getting closer to Christmas), but it seems a fair number of people are trying to pull a fast one on people who are maybe not used to eBay and are only using it because there seems to be no other way of getting a Wii for their kids (or themselves :) ). Not trying to scare anyone off eBay, but just be careful... :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 515 ✭✭✭ZOLTAN28

always check the feedback of any seller on eBay before buying - i'd be worried about delivery by christmas especially if its comming from Asia (and a lot of them do) - best trying to cajole a shop to keep one for you - xtra-vision are excellent for this type of thing and they will ring around other shops to check stock.

    Strange
Argos DO NOT take reservations for the Wii on ring and reserve any more?
If they have them, I'd go now to the store and buy them.

Tell me this then. I need to get a WII for my nephew. Might try Komplett, if that fails I am in the US with work in 2 weeks time. I can get one there. Now what problems will I have with that machine here. In the US we have a lower voltage of course, I don't know if the Wii can handle that by just putting a socket adapter on (i.e. does it have a switchable voltage input). And of course theres the region encoding, can the machine be chipped to get around this ? I am not interested in chipping to pirate games if indeed that can be done with the Wii, I am only interested in making it region independant. Obviously this is a lot of hassle but if thats what it comes down to in order to get this kid a Wii on chrimbo then I will have to look at it. Any suggestions ?

You can chip it to play PAL games yes,

However not all games will work, some just cant be played on a US console.

Also you will have issues with firmware updates.

Best avoiding it to be honest.

You could get a step-down converter for under €15 to sort out the voltage issue and you could buy all of your games from videogamesplus.ca or some other US site that ships here. It'll be a lot cheaper than buying the games here anyway.

    Cheers
    Mike
