You've got the basic idea, ditch the rad for say a swiftech MCR320 or if you really want to splash out get a thermochill PA120.3.
Maybe go with the D-Tek if your gonna have multiple blocks in the loop. Looks great other than that, consider 7/16" tubing, it's a bit nicer to work with than 1/2" and it'll make a super tight seal over 1/2" barbs - no need for clamps.
    Finally what are you cooling?

now Im running X2 4200 c/w aseteck Antarctica , but Christmas is coming and i have some nice plans....cant make my mind about NB block- will wait till get new mobo.....

Just immmerse thw whole lot in a fish tank with mineral oil :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 514 ✭✭✭nibble

Right well you'll need a triple rad anyway for any modern gpu + cpu combo. I wouldn't take anything other than an EK block for the nb, cos they look sexy and they're nice and unrestrictive.
And anti, that's actually not half as good as it sounds. A good wc set up would cool a fair bit better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 322 ✭✭ricka05

    Triple
    I was planing pump-duble-cp-nb-single- gpu-res--pump.....
Dam it i have no space for triple......Well i could do two doubles o use some imagination and extend my case.......

Why not use a quad at the top of the case if there is room ? outside if needed. with the fans pulling the air up. Could put in in plexi, or similar.

Well one reason would be that every quad rad that exists is basically crap, but the external mount idea is very good - keeps the heat out of your case too.
When it comes to rads there's only two brands I could recommend: Thermochill and Swiftech with thermochill being superior but more expensive and a lot bigger.
Use some ingenuity, it'll be worth it when you've got nice temps and a bit more silence.

QFT, if going multi block I'd take the dtek.
Everything looks top-notch though, good stuff. Where are you buying from? Try shoppts.com, great US store I've bought plenty of my stuff from there. If your buying from a store that sells them get yate loon fans, basically the best fans money can buy for a radiator and damn cheap too.
    EDIT
You haven't said what res your going to use? Or are you going T-line? Not that it really matters which you use but just in case you omitted it.

I'm getting it from OCUK, comes together with some stuff for my friend ....small , compact , should be easy to find a spot in the case.....

    180.jpg
I have it now in my system , spend-ed more time thinking where/how to fit it then actually putting together the whole system . Thought its gonna be some nice touch to the way the case looks like , but now when case sits under the table i can barely see it....plus its 1/4

Nope living in Kilkenny, delivery is via USPS, fire 'em an email and they'll do up a quote for you. I've never got taxed on anything I bought from them either so you won't lose the saving to the government.

sorry to hijack your thread, but its better than making a new one i think.

would you guys reckon it would be possible to get a nice WC kit for under 200 euro to cool a E6600 @ 3.6 + 8800gtx?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 514 ✭✭✭nibble

Avoid the Fuzion GFX it's a major flow killer, get a stealth, EK block or the MCW60. And the masterkleer tubing is just as good as the Tygon, no point in paying the extra.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 695 ✭✭✭Chosen

    I have an Apogee GT + EK 8800GTX + D5 + PA120.2, cooling a quad core at 3600 (100% 24/7, BOINC) and an 8800GTX at 600/2000.
All this inside a Thermaltake Lanbox Lite (mATX) case.

I strongly recommend the Apogee GT and I would advise you not to get any other rad than Thermochill PA series. That said, I have used 4 different radiators in the last 12 months.

Great temps for the setup, the fuzion is a better block though as is the apogee GTX. No reason to get an apogee GT when a fuzion is about the same price and superior. And yep thermochill are the rads to get if you don't mind splashing out a bit more for 'em and dealing with the fact that they're massive.

Dam it lads i cant fit a triple thermochill rad - its to think ,I have plans to build rad housing unit it would go under the case..
    unit2.png
.. plus its out of stock , same story with Swiftech MCW60 GPU , but i thing Ill get it from ocuk-friend of mine is ordering GPU ....I thought to go with MCR-320 ....Like I have mentioned before-triple-nb- cpu-single-gpu-pump-res....
It would perfectly fit at the bottom of the unit...

    Second think-prise

Anyway I still have some time to make my mind-waiting for PTS to come back to me about shipping options (if there is any :( )

For watercooling (and not only), I strongly recommend http://www.specialtech.co.uk/ the lads are amazing. Cheapest prices by far and great inventory on watercooling.

Nah its just cos they have to buy from DD like andy said.

Anyway you'd be better off getting the rad from specialtech ricka, would work out about the same or cheaper than getting the lot from petras. Had my stuff delivered unreal fast from specialtech a couple weeks ago, really good service.

And when you hold one of these beasts in your hands everything else just looks like a toy :D.
    EDIT
You might get some free 1/2" barbs with the rad if you buy from specialtech, I did a few weeks ago when I got a few bits including a PA120.3 from them.

Hehe I wish I had the thing together andy, I'm surrounded by various parts as I type this, but I'll have plenty of pics up soon a bit of a log I guess. Anyway the specs are mostly the same as the old rig hardware wise: 8800GTS, Q6600, Asus P5K Premium, 2GB Ballistix. Cooing and case is a V2000B, PA120.3 - EK res 250 - D5 - Apogee GTX, MCR220 - EK res 250 - D5 - EK NB block - MCW60. Dual loop as you can see;)

I might be interested in splitting shipping.

I'm thinking of giving the watercooling a go this Christmas, reckon this is a decent kit?

Yep that's a great kit, only kits I'd ever recommend are petra's. Maybe upgrade to a triple rad though.

And yeah, the Supreme should be the new king, pressure drop will probably be quite high though... So maybe best for single block loops.

I'm still a bit worried on the pressure drop, any word on that and how it performs against the fuZion and or apogee GT by chance Eddy?

The restriction will be obviously higher that apogee or fuzion no nozles, but it will be worth. Trust me

The Metal jet plate is made of stainless steal laser-cut.
The final design of metal plate will have more yet lines, so less restriction and also excellent performance.
We will also offer different jet plates. For extreme restriction and extreme performance and also metal plate for high-flow systems.

Ah yes the switchable plates good idea from EK, So yeah I guess you can tune it. But I don't think it will perform any better than a fuzion with one of the low restriction plates.

Has anyone ever ordered from this crowd?

    http://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-Apex-Ultra-H20-220-With-Apogee-GT-pr-3198.html

They'll deliver the "Swiftech Apex Ultra H20-220 With Apogee GT" kit to the UK for $255 or $270 inc shipping depending on whether you pick USPS Priority/Express.
Thats €170-€180 which seems like great value.

    What do you reckon?

Same kit is £150 + shipping from Specialtech which is €210 before shipping.

Reckon I'd get hit for import duty?
