    Hi Folks,

I'm helping to promote this event and want to get all the info for it in the same place and update everyone with how to qualify - including how to get in for absolutely zilch.

here's the press release from today:

QUALIFIERS NOW ONLINE FOR PARTYPOKER.COM IRISH POKER CHAMPIONSHIP

MIKE SEXTON AND ELUSIVE 1999 WORLD SERIES CHAMPION NOEL FURLONG ADDED TO LINE-UP

Gibraltar - 8th November 2007 – Exclusive online qualification for the PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship 2008 is underway! The tournament will be held at the fabulous Radisson Hotel & Spa, Galway, Ireland, from Jan 3 to Jan 6, 2008. The PokerEvents.ie organized event is the first major sponsorship in Ireland by PartyPoker.com and is Europe’s first major tournament of 2008.

The main online $220 satellite is every Tuesday but lower buy-in tournaments where entry into the main satellite can be won are available every day of the week on PartyPoker.com. For every 25 players in the main satellite, PartyPoker.com will provide one seat. Qualification for the $5,000 package starts at $3.

The €2,000 (9 percent withheld) buy-in is expected to attract 400 players from across Ireland, the UK, Europe and the United States and will be recorded for six hour-long broadcasts on RTÉ, Ireland’s national broadcaster and distributed internationally. Amongst those who have indicated that they will attend are ‘Ambassador of Poker’ Mike Sexton, WSOP bracelet winners Ciaran O’Leary and Michael Keiner, Padraig Parkinson, Scott Gray, Bruno Fitoussi, Rehne Pederson and Jan Sørensen. 1999 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Noel Furlong has also been coaxed out of retirement to take part!

A spokesman for the event sponsors, PartyPoker.com, said: “We are delighted that the tournament organizers have secured Noel Furlong’s participation. Imagine winning the WSOP Main Event, vanishing into thin air and retiring from the game, exactly what Noel did! We expect him to run well in the tournament as getting a read on him is likely to be very hard. There will be very little television coverage that gives pointers to how he plays.”

Over 500 qualifying satellites are also being held in pubs and clubs across Ireland.

    Now for the science bit:

You can find the full event schedule, qualification details and various other info at:

    http://www.partypokeripc.com

There are satellites all over the country, pubs, clubs and hotels.

    And drumroll please.....

You can get to the €2000 Main Event for absolutely free, playing live, with a pretty savage prizepool:

    IPC 2008 Freeroll - Cool Hand Luke's - Saturday Dec 1st at 6pm

    1st Place - Free IPC Ticket €2000
    2nd Place - Mega Satellite Ticket €330
    3rd Place - Mega Satellite Ticket €330
    4th Place - Mega Satellite Ticket €330
    5th to 9th Place - $100 credit into their partypoker.com account

To be eligible to play, you must sign up to party poker using the promo code IPCFREE. That's it. This code will also get you a deposit bonus of 30% up to $150

Places are limited and the tournament will be filled on a first come, first served basis. I'll be there on the day, making a list and checking it twice.

There will also be a Super Satellite to the Main Event that night in CHL's, so make a night of it...

I will post more details soon, including how to enter if you have an existing partypoker.com account.

    Karl

Sure you don't mean elusive? :p
I'm sure it'll be the real Noel Furlong and not an illusion that will be attending? :D

Edit: Sorry If I'm being overly pedantic but just in case it's a press release or something.

NO! i meant 'Illusive', but since you're being pedantic I've changed it :)

    Alright Karlh

You say main online sat costs $270 and that there is one package worth $5000 for every 25 players. This means that there is one $5000 package for every $6750 gathered. Surely this can't be right:confused:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭karlh

    no it's not right - entry is $200 + $20.

Our 'illusive' press release writer got it wrong :)

    Thanks for the correction.

We can fit 160 comfortably, so easily 200-240 with alternates I would say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭karlh

i dont think we'll have a problem with space. I can see how many people have signed up on a daily basis so ill give an indication of numbers nearer the day, along with how people with existing party accounts can participate.

The 24hr Party People are obviously giving me the prizes so they get new accounts. For now, the only way to register for the event is to sign up using the code IPCFREE. The week before the event I'll have a better idea of how many spaces there are for people with existing accounts and i'll open a new thread for people to dump their screen names in on a first come first served basis.

If you want to play 100%, sign up using the code.

Thank you for enticing me to open a party poker account..........I made only a small deposit and (wow and they take laser taboot)........sooooo many poor players.......thanks for the tip.....lol

There is a sat for this in Westport on Sunday 24th November. Details in separate post above but would like to draw attention to it in this thread for those living in the west or visiting that weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭karlh

I dont know anything about a freeroll in the Eglinton. Best to give them a shout to check.

    Hi Folks,

Sorry for not making this clearer but I have been told that some of the accounts registered using the code IPCFREE do not have any names attached to them.

You are not obliged to deposit anything but you do need to take the registration process as far as entering your name and address as real money account details.

The report Party will send me will have the names of everyone who has signed up so I can register them for the tournament.

NB Anyone who has signed up using the code IPCFREE - please login and complete this part of the registration.
