Arthritis & exercise

    Hi there,
I was wondering if someone could give me some advice.
I am a 27 year old female, not really overweight but would like to tone up and get fit, but i have arthritis.
I do exercise but i find my knees get quite painful and get a numb feeling in them after about 20 minutes or so. I use one of those thigh shaper stepper things at the moment.
I am thinking that maybe this isn't the best of things to be using as i am causing a high impact on my knees so could anyone recommend what exercise and what machines are best to use for people like me? With the job i do it's not always possible to get to go swimming but i do try. That's why it is ideal for me to have these machines at home.

    Any advice appreciated.

Posted in the wrong forum i think sorry!
