Now that we've got the forum up and running a while and it seems to be attracting people, it would be interesting to see how geographical spread out, or concentrated, our posters are. It's not a public poll, just in case someone has particular concerns about revealing where they live.

Where do you live? 55 votes

Castleknock by postal address, but physically nearer to Ashtown. In fact Ashtown has basically separated this area from Castleknock proper.

About as close to Coolmine station as you can get.

I went to a mate's party which he told me was in Castleknock, when I got there I was in Ashtown, went to another mate's gaf and he told me we were in Castleknock but as soon as I turned the corner going home I was at the Carpenter's Inn or whatever it's called in Carpenterstown.

Anyway what's the deal with all this lying, it's not even on the south side, c'mon like.

It depends on what the deeds of the house say.
Techincally all of dublin 15 is with in the Barony of castleknock :)
The deeds and postal address say Clonsilla but most would say it is not as it is off the blakestown road.

Clonee here, but not really as Clonee is in Meath so technically Castaheany, but not the estate that's actually called Castaheany....

Oh sod this, I live in Dublin 15, near the Meath border. :) Why are addresses made so complicated in this country? It would be easier to give my feckin' coordinates... 53° 24' N, 6° 25' W. :D

Ditto, Castaheany myself, though my family are from Clonsilla Village and i lived there for near 30 years before moving to Castaheany a few years ago.

    Ashtown

I used to live in Willow Wood from 1986 till about 2004 my house faced Inglewood but that can no longer happen as the Ongar feeder road from Hartstown now splits that little field that was there.

I went for a drive up through Ongar for a gander the other night and I was stunned at how many developements and estates there are up there and how they round out towards the clonee slip road. So that is where all the traffic comes from :)

Roselawn in Blanchardstown, nice enough area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,452 ✭✭✭thehomeofDob

Mulhuddart/Huntstown, near enough to the Huntstown school - lived in D15 for 17 years. Roselawn and Huntstown.

Get outta our part o' town. We dont like your type around here! :):D

Ongar meself--well ravenswood to be precise and I can be found scootering up the Ongar road everyday to work so no worries about traffic for me!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 183 ✭✭TragicJohnson

I too live in Ravenswood, although I am not sure where that is.

The estate agent said its Clonsilla, Bord Gais says it Castaheany, and Lets Eat In wouldn't deliver to me until I admitted Ravenswood was in Clonee!

    From Clonsilla myself.

Ah well your not missing out on much.

It has not been the same since it re-opened and jacked up the prices in 06. I have stopped using it, as it's far to hit and miss and the staff are not interested when they get something wrong with your order.

Great shame, as it was fantastic when it went under the name of "3 in 1".

Ive lived in Castlecurragh in Mulhuddart for the last 5 1/2 years.. Really want to get out of the area now though.. Too much anti social behaviour..

Postal address says Castleknock, if I'm giving directions i'll say Carpenterstown, but I could probably hit Porterstown church with a stone from my back garden (exaggeration).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Carpenterstown for me too. Laverna is the estate. Postal address is Castleknock though so I'll go with that option.

Hello neighbour, I live about 150 meters from the church in Porterstown on the church side of the road:D

My road is Carpenterstown but my address has Castleknock on it but my parish is Porterstown (st mochtus - bad spelling).

It is, it's under Other (please specify) ;)

There's a maximum of 10 items to a poll, so I just went for the ones I thought most obvious.

You should just say you live in Castleknock, that's what most people living in Carpenterstown do. ;)

    Tyrrelstown for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,063 ✭✭✭ParkRunner

I lived near Corduff for 25 years and glad to get out of it. Live in Fairview now and it is so much better with lots of buses, schools, parks that haven't got locked gates on them (Waterville) etc. Trying to get anywhere from Blanchardstown is a nightmare, I only have to get up now at the time I used to have to leave the house in Blanchardstown to get into town for the same time. The only thing I miss is being able to walk to a nearby big shopping centre but it's a small price to pay in my mind.
I would be pretty sceptical about the new phoenix park train station too with so much traffic already on the road it doesn't seem worthwhile trying to drive to that train station to wait for a train that will probably be completely packed, in fact you mightn't even get on. Ok rant over, Blanch sucks :D

Come on folks lets have a heated debate about whether it is right or wrong to consider carpenterstown as castleknock.

People always seem to get very passionate about it

Why not start a new thread ?

As for which a house is the deeds will tell you.
But that is all to change if the split of what is called currently castleknock goes head into
    Castleknock east
    Castleknock west
    Castleknock.

Techinallly all of the greater D15 area is Castleknock as it falls in the Barony of Castleknock.

I cant say I've noticed anyone get heated about it tbh. Your address is what it is. Carpenterstown is Castleknock as far as I'm concerned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 universeo

Thats strange 'deswalsh' as i have met many people that tell me that 'carpo' is not in castleknock...even from someone i met in the U.S. tbh i agree with you, since i was a child it has always been castleknock in my address but sometime in the last few years it seems that some people get annoyed when carpenterstown is included. i have to admit it seems like an issue of snobbery that can only make you laugh.
Actually 'deswalsh' you should check out tis forum i stumbled across to see what i mean: http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=6139

Yes i heard about changes to the boundaries or something a long while back. Does anyone know when/if the changes will come into effect or maybe have a link to information on the changes.

There are more small graveyards in the d15 area then most people think.
That one has some very intresting headstones if anyone is into the whole making rubbings of them.
