This is out friday,i havent seen a thread on it here so.......ive read the review on IGN, im leaning towards the WII version this year,as its somethin different for the franchise, bit sick of the PS2 VERSIONS TBH........the review says its a welcome change, and while it lacks depth for the hardcore fan, it sounds like a cud well be fun to have a few games with mates etc..apparently a more arcade fast feel to it, i like the touch of mimicing the taunts with the nunchuck & wiimote.

    anybody any thoughts?

These games are a bit of fun but they are by no means perfect, They had to remove Benoit from this in a short time so I'd say you can expect glitches and holes in the modes he was involved in, Not to say there wont be anyway as there always are "STONE COLD STUNNER"!!!

The Wii version looks interesting but its missing some of the good parts and the controller novelty will wear off fairly fast

with the x box 360 you can upload your own songs and use them for entrances. im gonna stick with the ps2 version since i only have a ps2:)

I have grown to despise the Smackdown games over time. Wrestling video games were perfected with WWE No Mercy on the N64. That game was just so much fun. I need to dig out my N64 and have a go sometime soon.

Smackdown v Raw will be damn near perfect if they spped up the gameplay, include more legends and for Gods sake remove that stupid ladder gauge/"sweet spot" in the ladder matches. That aspect ruins that particular match in the last release of the series and made me switch off the game in frustration.

Any list of superstars and legends?

The only PC I have at the moment is a laptop which belongs to work. I would be strung up if I installed emulators / games on it.

his moveset and entrance are though, plus with the 360 version you can put your own music on it, think him and demolition will be my first CAWS

I agree. I haven't bought one since the org SvR. They seem to be same game year after year with no real worthwhile changes/additions and the glitches have never been fixed.

    What??...No Hulk Hogan?

No Mr Perfect??...No Bam Bam Bigelow??

What a crap legends list they have this year.Thought they would have put Owen Hart in by now or Jake Roberts or even Macho Man.

how do u have the game

the game seems to be alot different. Its alot slower itself, which is a good thing. All the superstars have different abilities so different buttons are used. Graphics are great. Commentary is terrible. JBL sucks big time. YOu can hear he is reading from a scrypt. I won king of the ring with MVP and i choose Torrie as my queen and it automatically changed MVP to King MVP. Ithink thats shows some smarts. Well maybe not smarts but somthing different. Tried to play 24/7 but you choice of superstars is very limited in that option.

I have created Jericho and put him in with his entrance and his entrance music. It looks cool. All in all its not too bad. I have added alot of theme musics for future CAWS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

the commentary has always sucked on the SVR games, i always turn it off "Well King its great that......JEFF HARDY!..... has made it big here on MONDAY NIGHT RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
stupid **** like that ruins it, and the crowd noise is still AWFUL,why cant they just record real crowd pops? the boos sound like a gust of wind blowing through an alleyway and Lillian Garcia sound even more robotic than usual

Haven't bought a wrestling game since 'Here Comes The Pain' which had Brock Lesnar on the cover. Might pick this one up.

    +1

I hadn't bought one for about 3 years, but last christmas I decided to buy '07. I honestly think I played it for about a day and then just gaveup with it. The load times alone were immensely frustrating

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,602 ✭✭✭✭ShawnRaven

Load time on the 360 wasn't bad. And don't bother with these SVR games on the PSP, load times are criminal.

And god help you if you use a CAW on the PSP version!

THQ's Smackdown VS Raw series is AWFUL.

Having a slick presentation does NOT make up for the terribly broken gameplay, the utterly stupid CPU artifical intelligence, senseless restrictions on matches and game modes, and on and on and on and on...

It's far worse than an E.A. yearly franchise, and the sad truth is that they can keep making shambolic yearly releases of the series and the huge amount of DUMB fanboys will still lap it up. More fools them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

the thing i hate about the series is how bloody long it takes to get up after a simple move, take a clothesline and you're layed out mashing the buttons for 30 seconds, and has anyone EVER picked up a guy from the mat without getting punched in the nads or poked in the eyeball?I'll pick it up and do a season of it then trade it in for Assassins Creed next week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,602 ✭✭✭✭ShawnRaven

I think that was for SD - Shut Your Mouth, it was out of print by the time HCTP was released. I had to trawl ebay for Back In Black around the time of that game's release.

It was one of the last. A few releases went rare around that time, including The Rock's "Just Bring It", HHH "The Game, and Hogan's "Hulk Still Rules"

bought it,watched a few of the entrances, played it for an hour and returned it for call of duty 4 instead, not gonna bother with another SVR game suntil they totally rehaul the way it plays or another developer takes over the licence, how a game can be continually released with the same stupid mistakes and niggles EVERY year is beyond me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,602 ✭✭✭✭ShawnRaven

Funny you mention that, THQ's 10 year deal with WWE expires next year. However WWE are quite happy with THQ at the minute, so don't expect a big change.

Commentary is nearly the same as last year just with JBL saying Tazz's lines, lots of rehashed stuff and poorly thought out add on's, it looks nice but moves slow and there is no atmosphere during matches crowd noise is too quiet

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 256 ✭✭Yellow Snow

I haven't played a wrestling game in years, thinking about giving this a go though. You guys think its worth it? (baring in mind i'm not comparing it to the last S v R releases seeing as i haven't played them!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 216 ✭✭Belle Ende

    In short, no.

If you 'MUST' get a WWE:SvR game, go for one of the platinum releases of 'SvR:HCTP' or 'SvR:2006'. They're the best versions from the series and you'll save yourself quite a bit of moolah over the dreadful 2007 and 2008 iterations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 518 ✭✭✭JeanClaude

Bought it yesterday, for my 8 year old Nephew, he seems to like it..:D but i was watching him play a bit of it today, he was playing the Royal Rumble when all of a sudden JR blurts out "it's William Regal" which was odd because Regal wasn't even in the ring at the time :D. but anyway (as you might have already guessed) the next entrant to the Rumble a full 10-15 seconds later was......William Regal.

I mean thats just sloppy on THQ'S part,
