    Hi,

Does anyone know if there any kettleball training classes on in Dublin? Maybe it's just the latest fad but I see it mentioned quite a bit in magazines/ on the internet lately.

(btw I'm not a gym member, just looking for something different to try to work on overall strength fitness)

A member here Colm O'Reily is involved with crossfit ireland. They were holding open days, look back the last few pages to last week and you will find the thread. I think crossfit use kettlebells. He probably has links.

It is becoming more popular, but is certainly not some useless gimmicky fad.

There is supposed to be a good book about it by a russian guy, his name is pavel tsatsouline

    check it out here

Have been doing kettlebells with a personal trainer now for 6 wks....they aren't for the faint hearted, its a workout & a half!!!

The up side is..... I'm seeing the benefits already.

Havent heard of any classes, but you may find one-on-one trainers!!!

I'm atttending a Kettlebell workshop on Saturday, organised by forum member paddyc.

I'm not sure if there are any places left but I'd recommend you pm him to find out.

While kettlebell training has been around for years, Pavel Tsatsouline has popularised their use over the last decade. His DVDs are a fantastic source of info.

Steve Maxwell and Mike Mahler are great too. Here's a link to an interesting discussion between the two: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mahler29.htm

Ha! I went to my first kettleballs class on tuesday as recommended in another thread, lifting 6kg. Was thinking the whole time - this is a piece of p*ss! I am so good at this. If it were an olympic sport, I would definately be a gold medalist. Afterwards, I went for a 30min run on the treadmill. Came out of the gym fairly chuffed with myself.

But... woke up yesterday and I couldn't move, today is so much worse - I actually think I will never be able to walk right again!!!!!

Loved the class on tuesday but in so much agony now im just going to have to give it a miss until next tuesday.

    Lesson learned!

p.s. don't know about dublin but anyone in limerick, the class i went to is in the University Arena. :)
