    I am over weight.

    I am 5 foot 1", I am 79kgs and in between a size 14 and 16.

I have given up bread, pasta, pizzas, take aways, fizzy drinks, alcohol, and crisps.

I have started exercising daily for an hour each day.

I have been doing this for a month and I have yet to see any change in my body. I am a little slimmer but not much, but I weigh around the same.

My body fluctuates monthly down a kg and then back up again.

    I started eating breakfast too...

Nothing seems to be doing anything and I don’t want to go back on to lipo-trim...

But if I don’t start loosing weight soon I will have too...

    Any advice?

I'm far from an expert here, but it could be that you're staying at the same weight because your fat is becoming muscle. Muscle weighs twice as much as fat, so it's likely you are losing fat, which is the important part. It'd explain why you're seeing a slimming down, but no change on the scales.

Could be portion size is a problem too. It's no good giving up all the bad things in your diet if you're eating meals big enough for 2 people.

ok, well this is where I see alarm bells ringing. How long were you on it and how long ago was it? Did you stay on it long and how much weight did you lose?

Those very low calorie diets are absolutely *awful* for your metabolism and when you come off them a lot of people put weight back on very fast, essentially because you've been starving yourself.

Can you also give an idea of what your daily eating habits are like? And be honest about treats and things!! Oh and booze too ;)

It's a horrible feeling when you make a big effort to lsoe weight and nothing happens - I'll bet there's things we can change to see more immediate results though :)

I'd agree with G'em when she mentions portion sizes, she knows what she's talking about. Check out the stickes on the fitness forum about a proper diet.

I will say this, proper weight loss is a slow process and the more often you check your weight the slower it seems to come off, I've been there. Other people notice the changes first, after all we see ourselves everyday.

Forget the scales for a while and just worry about your diet, sorry worry is the wrong word, think about it, yes thats it think about it. Breakfast is the big kickstart to the day, I for instance have a bowl of Bran Flakes with some all bran followed by a banana. I eat a lot more vegetables and fruit and have cut out red meat to maybe once a month and replaced it with tuna, salmon and turkey. Stir frys full of carrots, peppers, mushrooms and french beans are very filling, tip for you 'al dente' vegetables which are still crunchie are so tasty and better for you.

As for exercise take it easy at first and learn to stretch properly this is so important, but don't stretch cold muscles, again you'll get better info than I can give you on the fittness thread.

The best advise I can give you, is to think of the end goal which will hopefully be a healtier, happier person who in a few months will be passing on a wealth of experience to other posters. :D

Sorry about taking so long to get back you cant post here unless your registered...

If you take a cup that the amount of cereal i have in the morning also with fruit.

my meal sizes have never been large, meat portion at the most would be the 2/3 of the house for your pc.

i eat mainly veg, usual portion is two cups of chopped veg.

soup is usualy two ladel's in size.

lipotrim, i went on it for just over two weeks i lost 3/4s of a stone and kept it off...

my body doesnt agree with soya, so i found the 3rd week pretty bad as i was vomiting any of the shakes.

i couldnt eat the soup as it was disgusting.

I'm happy with my excersizing and i wont give it up, and i'm happy with what i have taken out of my life to make me healthier, I'm just a bit disapointed in the fact that i havent lost anything noticable apart from my bottom, its the only part that seems to have changed size.

Be patient: it's SO frustrating when the scales don't reflect change I know, but try hard to ignore what they say and instead concentrate on how well you feel and how your clothes fit. Your clothes and the mirror will give you a better indication of the progress you're making.

You're eating quite sparsely, and your diet is very high in carbohydrates and little protien and good fats. Ideally when you're trying to lose weight what you try to do is make the job as easy as possible for your metabolism - the instinctual reaction is to starve yoruself, but unfortunately that won't work, and you'll end up hanging onto fat, and even gaining it as your body puts the calories to the best use possible - energy storage.

For breakfast instead of eating corn flakes, how does wholemeal toast with peanut butter sound? Or boiled/ scrambled eggs? Nut butter and eggs are both rich in proteins and good fats, so they'll help you stay fuller for longer. Mid-morning you can snack on a yoghurt or a small handful of nuts/ seeds or some fruit - this will keep your appetite at bay later in the day.

At lunch a salad or veg with meat is perfect. Just be slightly wary of the soup - is a it very processed? Or (surpirsingly) worse, one of the "low-fat" kinds? The mroe processed a food is, the easier you digest it, and the quicker you'll be hungry. This will lead to snacking unhealthily later on.

Liekwise teh veg/ salad and meat in the evening is great and you can have a snack mid-afternoon. Lots of people find the evening time to be their danger time for snacking (sitting in front of the tv - it's *so* easy to work your way through a huge portion of chocolate or crisps when you aren't paying attention!!).

Treats are fine - as long as tehy really are once a week things. If you eat biscuits twice or three times a week, then jellies another couple of times a week, then maybe some chocolate a few times too, it tends to add up to a treat every day!

Go right back to basics and get those covered and then start adding in treats:
    * Drink lots of water and/or green tea
    * Eat small meals often
    * Make sure you eat protein as often as you can - it's more satiating and meatbolism-friendly than carbs are.

As for the lipotrim, *please* try not to go back on it. It's a quick-fix temproary diet and doesn't address your 'normal' eating patterns.

    Any advice?

I've done Lipotrim, lost four stone and then put it back on with interest.

In the last few months i've lost about 1.5 stone by exercise and better eating as I really didnt want to go back to being thin and then fat again and the mental pain that involves. It may be much much slower loosing it without Lipotrim but its sure as hell not coming back on as each pound lost is earned, not handed in a powder pack.

I think you need to be honest with yourself first of all. why are you fat?
For me - ate crap food, drank too much booze and got no exercise.

You can Lipotrim the fat away but can you Lipotrim the bad diet, the booze and the no exercise away afterwards?, I bet like me you probably couldnt and thats why your back at square one (the cruellest side effect of the lipotrim diet is that if you do go back to your old way of living is that you will put fat back on quicker than ever before due to a slowed metabolism).

I would recommend keeping an honest food diary for a week and then adding it all up on fitday.com and seeing just how well you are doing.

Regarding the gym, how hard are you honestly pushing?
Can you see the sweat pouring off your forehead every time there, is your shirt even a little wet when heading back into the changing room?, if not then you're probably wasting your time there. Does your gym do spinning classes?, if so have a go at them and see what pushing yourself hard feels like.

Loosing weight is hard work, no way around that, I curse the fat bar steward I allowed myself to become and cannot wait to get back the old me that was full of energy and skinny and didnt need to worry about wheter Dunnes or Pennies stock my size anymore!(I'm a guy with no fashion sense/cares).

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/
