Call me picky but......

over the last two days i have seen a lot of claims being bandied about the place with things like "this is a fact" or "it's been proven" before or after them.

From now on, when statements like this are made i would like to see links to studies or online journals to back up these statements.

Where i see statements that i would like to be back up more will result in me asking for links etc.

To continue discussion in that thread without posting links will result in an Infraction, to continue to make other such statements without back up in a second thread will result in a ban. To continue to do so after your ban is lifted will result in a perma ban from Fitness.

Now then, obviously somethings are pretty common knowledge, such as "eating protein helps build muscle in conjunction with a good training regime" or "increase your level of activity can help you lose weight in conjunction with healthy eating" so obviously there will be a degree of leeway around such subjects........ basically any big claims without back up will get your wrist slapped.

Cheeky_gal, this is a general message to the board as to the way i want to see things operate from now on.

Not everyone might have read the thread that you were involved in, so i tend to get the message across by posting a new one.

Is that so hard to understand?

If you find it so funny i can just ban you for a while....you know, to help you get over your fit of the giggles?

Dragan at the end of the day its a chat forum and sometimes people just give opinions or other times they give facts that they might have learnd in college etc, to be honest i dont have the patience to start digging up links to prove myself every time i make a statement and most my stuff comes from courses that you need to be a member to view the copyrighted links, if i say my way is right and people dont agree then thats fine! if it bothers me i might get looking for links elsewhere, obviously people say things wrong but thats why there is others to put that right, i know this bothers you but having to give proof for obvious things bother me, in my opinion people should just challenge opinions that they dont believe or agree with, thats what an open forum is about is it not? also if you look hard enough you can find links to say anything that suits you anyway.

Thats a fair point cowzerp but I think some of the ridiculous "facts" that have been thrown out lately by people with the complete stubborn belief that everyone else is wrong have to be forced to think "can I back this up?" before posting it. Generally the average person who posts here either, says its of their opinion or they back it up if they say a statement is fact.

You obviously didn't really glean the message from my post so i'll break it right down for ya....

IF YOU CLAIM SOMETHING YOU'D BEST BE ABLE TO BACK IT UP IF CALLED ON IT.

now......that just about does it i think. I think i pretty clearly covered that the more obvious issues would be left alone, just some of the more outrageous claims will need backing up Paul.

That sounds good to me, whacky comments should be backed up by some facts, i did'nt glean the message! i'll try not make outrageous claims cause im way to lazy to look beyond whats in my head!!
