I was just wondering if anyone would like to go to Donadea Forest park again in the next couple of weeks?

It is later then last year so the trees will be great colours and lot's of leaves to photograph!

I may or may not bring tea and cakes again this year! :p

will there be wolves in the forest?

Not that I know of, but there will be red squirrels :p

Anyone have a preference for a weekend?

Excellent, those pesky grey ones in the botanic gardens are getting boring to stalk :p

Cant this weekend...... any of following weekends should suit (pending pesky work). I'll need to bum a ride anyway so I'll go with the majority and hope there'll be a seat left for me :)

    interested subject to the date

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭GristlyEnd

Also interested depending on dates. Would be helpful if you could mark it on a google maps as I got seriously lost the last time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭evilhomer

So will we say the weekend after next?

The weekend of the 17th and 18th?

I will add it to a google maps thingy and add it to the boards photography calander tomorrow. :)

I'd be on for this subject to the usual pitfalls that come with family life. Sooner would probably be better than later, the autumn colours are very good ATM, but any gales will strip most of the leaves away, and the gales cant be far away now.

I'm out I'm afraid, have celebrations to attend...

why not go to a different forest?
balrath for those of us living on the northside of dublin, or in north county dublin, kilmacurragh for those living on the wrong side of the liffey.

So did I and I made the mistake of asking directions from a local who was rather less than friendly.

Evilhomer, yes, I'd be interested subject to date. If you're around on Saturday coming, that'd be fine by me. Following weekend not so sure and going to Morocco on 30 Nov for 8 days. If we could go there early enough for the "sunrise" again this year, it'd be cool. I realise that we didn't get a sunrise but hey...

Edit oh bother I'll have to wait and see - I've just seen you mention the weekend after next. I may have tourists around.

I'm good this weekend if it suits more people?

Whatever is best for the numbers and as nilhg said maybe we can beat the gales this weekend?

Maybe if people post preferences for date then we can decide based on numbers?

This Sunday?? :D There's rugby on Saturday so I'm busy then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,185 ✭✭✭nilhg

I'll go with the flow, Saturday or Sunday morning for a couple of hours.

Calina, sunrise would be about 07:15 which wouldn't be too bad if you were guaranteed you would see it. I suppose if the forecast was good anybody interested could meet up early.

Paul, Forest in the morning, rugby in the evening, sorted:D

    Rugby is at 1330
It would be prudent to arrive early.

I may then have to cover Athlone Town v Cobh Ramblers, in Athlone, at 1945

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 640 ✭✭✭CraggyIslander

The grid reference is in the directions? Surely they cant be serious in assuming that everyone has one of them survey maps that has every tree, ditch and telephone pole on it! i.e. scale 1:10

someone quick, show her some macro shots! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

You and me alone in the forest with a flask of hot chocolate or something? Is there any chance there won't be clouds this time?

Julie, come along. It'll be the anniversary of the first time we met. I'm all photoed out too but I just feel like hanging out with photographers for a change. Talk about lenses instead of kites.

I'd say the meeting point is the car park, i'm kinda hoping to be awake for the sunrise, and a chance to see some blue in the sky this time.

Id like to say I'd make it... but these days, when driving to the greater Dublin area, I make it a point to at least stay for 24 hours... to make the often perilous roundtrip seem worthwhile. Coming up Sunday morning and back Sunday evening does not bode well at the moment... Even if the sandwiches were plentiful!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

I'll be there. I'm not sure about 7.44 at the moment though, I'll have to see how tomorrow pans out.

Coming from Swords. If you're not an axe murderer, yadayadayada

hmm have read through this again, I thought it was Sunday 18th but it it's this Sunday 11th I am around. I'd need a lift too, I'm living near the Halfway House pub on the Navan road. I could try get to any other suggested pickup points either..

Quite possible to get there without going near Dublin, and really there's nothing great or even greater about Dublin.:p:p

Much improved road up from down there now, go on, you know you want to, drop herself off at the shopping in Kildare Village and head for the woods, thats what I do.
