I've being doing a low carb, hight protein diet for a few weeks now and the pounds are falling off thankfully. But im quite unimaginative when it comes to cooking and am getting a tad bored with eggs, meat, eggs, meat, cheese, nuts eggs meat etc!!!!!

I've seen a few english websites that have a range of low carb breads, jams chocolates and that kind of thing, but most do not deliver to Ireland. Does anyone know of a shop in Dublin or online store that would sell similar products??? Or even have any interesting low carb recepies :p

Part of the reason the diet will work is the very fact that it is restrictive and boring, so you end up eating less!

I have no experience of low carb susbstitutes, but substitute in other ways. e.g. instead of bread I will make wraps with iceberg lettuce- cook up chicken or mince in sauce and wrap it in a single leaf.

As for high protein, I actually enjoy protein shakes. I also make "protein mousse", with protein powder milk & sugar free jelly.

I think health stores might have low carb stuff.

Ha well you are right there!!! But i was thinking more kind of long term, keeping my carb intake down as that seems to be the best way for me to keep my weight down. I seen on a web site low carb pancake mix and that sort of thing!!!! Im a bit of a carb addict :(:(

Your protein mousse sounds good, I must give it a go later, any particular flavours that go well together??? I suppose you just mix the lot in a blender....??

I liquidise the whey powder & milk in a blender, it makes it expand a lot so to not overfill. Then I get powder jelly strawberry or raspberry, heat in a small amount of water to dissolve and add it while stirring the protein powder. If it is too hot you can blend up an icecube in the mix. Then leave it set in the fridge.
