    Here goes,
I've got €7,000 on iPoker on Wednesday,
Goal is to get to €100k in 100 days.
Just want to get a poll to see the percentage of people that think it can or can't be done. I know it's difficult to say/vote as you don't know how I play, just an idea is what i'd like.
Going to start on 3/6 (yes, probably a bit high for BR, but that's what I'm starting it, no tournaments, just cash tables, will play for probably 3 hours per night)

    €100k in 100 days 132 votes

    No problem, easily achievable
    0% 0 votes
It can be done, tough, but it can be done
    5% 7 votes
Amaru is back!! (Tiny % of success)
    58% 77 votes
Laf is the best mod obv
    36% 48 votes

I dont really know who you are but unless you were exceptionally good and ran very well I think this would be extremely difficult to do.

    Good luck with it.

I know, I meant to have a third option and I can't edit the poll now, anyone know how to edit it ? I want a third option in there, "not a chance"

i was looking for the "lol" option in the poll. finding that was omitted, i felt the most suitable response was atari jaguar.

you would need to run hotter than Valor to have a shot at this.

I'm surprised with all the negative responses :-(
I personally think it shouldn't be too difficult at all

I'll keep the thread posted on the progress though if anyones interested.

well have you ever earn a 100k in a year online? your bankroll is 7k so I doubt it somehow. But if you want to put a wager on this, I'm sure a load of people would be interest!

Also, you need to be playing a lot higher than 3/6, you would event struggle at 5/10 to make that sort of cash.

But gl with it and keep us all updated.

    Hi Ollie,
I agree, 3/6 is too low for the end result alright. I intend only playing that level for one week max.
I haven't earned 100k online in a year before as I haven't played TOO much online. I have earned it playing Live though in 9 months.

300 hours - how many tables? i think its very very ambitious. It can def be done, but whether your good enough to do it, i dont no. Theres a few guys who are good at spinning large amounts, flipper, mrpt ask them how it goes. Taking large risks is the only way i can see you doing it tbh

You earned 100k in 9 months playing live cash..i find this hard to believe. Thats an average of 11k a month and over 2.5k a week. Where are these games?

I think its definitely option B. But I wish you the best of luck and hope you do it!

What about the option no it can't be done????

And not only can it not be done but there's a good chance you'll lose some of the 7K

 you earned €100,000 playing Live poker in 9 months??

That's a savage return, what games were you playing and what levels??

As for 100k in 100 days, obviously it's achievable, but you'd better be pretty damn good to be able to do it, if you do it at 3/6 it works out as around 55BB's per hour.

    At 5/10 it's 33BB's per hour.

So if you 4 table 5/10 you'll need a win rate of around 8.33 BB/ table hour, do you have any kind of evidence that you can do this, the difference between any 5/10 Live game and a 5/10 online game is HUGE!!! Or what limits Live were you playing when you won the €100k?? Not to mention the BR problems you have. I unfortunately predict busto if you jump to 5/10 before you have 30k - 40k.

But seriously good luck with it and keep us informed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,321 ✭✭✭prendy

wow thats ambitious....if it was that easy surely everyone would be doing it!!!

i suppose if you did it live then why not:D

    Good luck with it anyway!

It was in London mod, was PL and NL Holdem, anything from 3/3 to 10/10 or 10/20. London is VERY different in cash games to dublin though

out of curiosity, is the € symbol a typo, did you actually mean $$?
    Big difference between the two.
I think its alot harder than you think. You will need to run well with little or no downswings.
What site are you playing on?

Maybe I'm kicking myself in the teeth alright here and will purely embarass myself in the process, I just wanted to get peoples reactions though.

Perhaps I am over-confident, I genuinly believe I can do it though.

3 tabling for 300 hours . . . perhaps some of the 5/10 regs could quote there BEST win rate over a small period of time, not even their average - even at that i think you'l find it very hard. Was that 100ksterling?? either way fair play!! if your willing to take alot of risks, and try to aggresively spin it then you might have a chance (as it looks like you can afford to lose your 7k)

lol, I'd prefer not to lose it mate, I've invested 100k into a new business.

I've never played in London before so anyone feel free to correct me, but I assume the players are just as bad as on the Dublin Live scene, the usual mix of degens, donks, drunken idiots and rich business men with the odd good player thrown in there too??

Also my post was in $$ obviously if you mean to make it in €€ then multiply everything by 1.44 or whatever the rate is now, and as for STG£ then.....

But seriously I wish you luck....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,443 ✭✭✭califano

What may influence my opinion poll choice is my question below.

Is there a chance during the challenge lets say where you might not be doing well or are nowhere near on target so you decide to pull out of the challenge before the 100 days are up or do you play on until you win or bust?.

I can't really comment too much on the Irish cash game scene. However, what I have seen of it, compared to the uk is very different.
Firstly, there is alot more level options, I've only seen 5/10 here max, and that's quite rare from what I can see.

Players I found were better, then again, I was playing from 2pm onwards so didn't have degenerate drunk donks going all-in with garbage.
Main difference was pre-flop play though, Alot of money in the middle.

    fair enough

i have failed/succeded spinning $$ in the past - but from my experience you are asking too much

you could spin it to 25k handy enough, but the more you push it, the easier it becomes to go elbusto

The only way I will pull out of the challenge is if my 7k disappears.
If I make the 100k after 60 days, then the challenge is done.

I am very poor at limit and plo as they don't interest me.

Ok you sound committed. So lets say you have ground up to 25k-30k but with only 7 days to go so do desperate times call for desperate measures?. i.e Do you start playing 50/100 and beyond with it to try to hit the target?.

Very best of luck with this.

I'll send you a really nice bottle of wine if you do it.(not that you'd give a sh*t then but anyway)

When do you plan on moving up to 5/10? Is this gonna be based on your BR or time left?

Is your attitude going to be '100K or bust' or 'get as close as I can'?

If you get to day 99 and you've 50K will you seek a monster heads up match or stick it all on red/black or something?

I'm surprised at the responses (unless you all know OP and know he isn't as good as he thinks he is), I think it is certainly achievable if you play 10k+ hands a week and are extremely good at poker.

I don't really see how these challenges work though, how it is better than "I'll turn 7k into as much money as possible in 100 days".

I agree with your attitude RoundTower, 100k is just a personal target I have.
As far as people knowing my game, nope, no one here in dublin would know it.

    3hrs a day 3 tabling = 600 hands a day= 60k hands.....assuming you hit 5/10 at 10K then if you need to make 4500ptBB in 60k hands which is 7.5 ptbb/100. Is that really achievable at 5/10 over 60k hands?
