Taking protein throughout the day

I'm taking protein as a supplement for boxing training, the brand reccomends I take it throughout the day and it can be taken with either milk or water.

What I'm wondering is, which am I better off with?
I'm aware that milk would mean a slow release of protein whereas I take water based protein to provide a boost after working out.

I'm guessing milk would be better for taking during the day, but I'm just wondering if I might be wrong here.

    Any advice welcome

    Thanks

Yeah I'd look too get as much protein from whole food as possible, using the shake only as a supplement to that as you mentioned.

Lots of fighters find that dairy has a negative effect on their cardio. I certainly notice it anyway. I generally use Soya milk for any shakes. It's 85c a litre in Lidl instead of like €3 in Tescos or wherever.

In what way, immediately after taking or in general fitness terms?
Very curious as I'm pretty fond of dairy and am trying to improve my cardio fitness .

Interesting observation. I'm the same. Any dairy makes me sluggish and phlegmy. Funnily this would be well documented in Traditional Chinese Medicine - dairy is seen as a damp phlegm producing substance which can lead to poor digestion, headaches, water retention and a general feeling of sluggishness and lethargy. Which sucks because I love cheese.

Generally I get my protein from whole food sources, any shakes I have are made either with water or with other ingredients like ice cubes and peanut butter etc.

A 200g bag of almonds will last you about 3 days. Something to munch on as a snack mid morning or mid afternoon. Lots of protein and good fats in there.

I drink fairly large amounts of milk, maybe 1-2litres a day?

I eat chicken nearly every day, fish once or twice a week, beans, pork and beef show up occasionally. Protein supplement as a supplement,I find it useful for taking just after boxing.

I'm just wondering whether milk should be taken at all.

I've heard very different opinions on it.

yes not sure about milk either. good for calcium and protein but is fattening. also heard it can contribute to allergies, colds etc

ive been trying soya milk and silken tofu cubes in a blender along with fruit. any opinions on the value of this

Tesco does cheap soy milk as well.
Last time I bought it it was circa 88c per L.

I take a protein shake with some carbs after training.
I usually use whole foods for my protein sources otherwise.
