How soon should I go back to the gym?

I just had a surgery to remove my pilonidal sinus last week. I haven't been to the gym since then and I really want to start working out again. But I don't know if it's too soon. Anyone with a similar experience? Should I avoid exercises like squat and deadlift? It's so embarrassing I might even have to avoid the shower in the gym, how annoying...

    Cheers.
