Hi people I have often asked questions on the fitness forum since the start of last summer. My problem is I don't know what goals I hope to achieve. I want to increase my muscle size, but at the same time become more lean so to speak. Basically since June, I have just been doing random weight training in the gym, and I have obviously got stronger, but the results have been slow.

I'm getting to the gym three times a week now, which is decent I guess.

Pick a measurable goal. Work towards it.

My suggestion would be something strength related since it's the easiet variable to measure in the gym.

I want to increase my muscle size, but at the same time become more lean so to speak.

I'm no expert but this is what I've been doing for the last 6 months and the results have been incredible:

I exercise 6 days per week (people here will probably say that's too much) but it depends on the recovery ability of the individual. I am 25 and have never been as fit in my life.

    This is my exercise routine:

    Mon: Cardio: 40 minute run
Weights: abs (situps/weigted situps) and biceps

Tue: Cardio: 1 hour of 6 a side football
Weights: Chest(bench press), shoulders, triceps, back

    Wed: Cardio: 40 minute run
Weights: abs (situps/weigted situps) and biceps

Thur: Cardio: 1 hour of 6 a side football
Weights: Chest(bench press), shoulders, triceps, back

    Fri: Cardio: 40 minute run
Weights: abs (situps/weigted situps) and biceps

    Sat: Cardio: 40 minute run
Weights: Chest(bench press), shoulders, triceps, back

    Sun: Rest

Diet: I Never exceed 2600 calories per day. You can use http://www.fitday.com to calculate how many calories in foods.

Now obviously not everybody would be able to follow the above but if you are serious about getting into shape you would need to do something similar to the above.

I am of the opinion that if you work that little bit harder you can treat yourself at the weekend (i.e. have a few pints, dessert, chocolate etc.).

I think that I'm serious about being in fairly decent shape and I'd never do anything similar to that.

    Agreed with Clive.

I guess I'll have to start trying harder.

Whats the point of working out your arms monday - saturday ??? Quality rest is just as important as putting in a solid effort in the gym.

    Here I've noticed something...

The fittest guys on here do the least quantity of work. Seriously.

As an aside, I can confirm that Clive is as ripped as I have ever seen him.
