There is a stunning shot of a "dreamy moon" you know those wispy cloudy full moons, and its shining right down onto the water by the Spanish Arch and my tripod is in Kerry ggrrrr! Someone run out there and take a nice photo of the moon ;)

    better than Lewis Hamillton's :p

nice exposure, can see some detail at least, blur makes it kinda atmospheric ;)

I might go out later and see if I can get some moon picts. I tried so long exposure photos last night and posted two interesting samples to my FlickR.

Took this today after getting home from work. I really needed to stop on the way home as it looked much better but had no tripod with me.

    Nice shots.

    Mike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

I stuck it on a tripod and left it for a minute or two to settle down and then used the self timer to trigger it off.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Does anyone else sometimes just stand/sit there with bionoculars or a powerful lense and gaze at the detail and wish you were much closer to it?

    Mike.

I've been reading this forum for a good while, but have never posted before....
So, saw this moon thread and ... here is my version of tonights moon!
Taken with an E500, and Sigma 135-400 mm lens.
Now, headin back to the test forum to figure out how to get the picture to appear without having to click on the link!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,381 ✭✭✭✭Paulw

Ok, since everyone else is doing it -

    Here's mine -

    1734054143_c7aa1d731c.jpg

    Taken with 40D, 100-400mm with 2x extender. 1/200th, f/11.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Dammit I need a bigger piece of glass :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,381 ✭✭✭✭Paulw

The hardest part was the manual focus. I think the images could be a bit sharper and clearer.

I guess using the glass at 800mm has an advantage and a disadvantage. My Flickr has larger images.

Gorgeous shot!! and welcome to the forum... if you have the url of the image you can make it "appear" in the thread like the others have...

Paulw I can't view your larger versions I'm afraid :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

Sitting in work this evening I was so annoyed at a great sunset shooting opportunity only to be in there until 12. The temptation to finish early was on my mind but I resisted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,263 ✭✭✭✭Borderfox

    Nice shot Paul

Ah I can't believe I missed this challenge.
I stood there, looking up at the moon, thinking how interesting it was that once side was so sharp, but the other was less so.
If I'd only known I could have woo'd boardsies with it...

Looks like you got great detail there. Shame there's no larger size on your zoomer.
