hey guys, i am thinking of switching over to maximuscle promax. i was using optimum nutrition serious mass and have put on about 17 pounds in 2 months which is great because i was skinny. i still am a bit skinny but i would like to put on muscle now more than body mass. should i switch over to just protein with less calories? i do notice i have gotten a bit more toned but would using promax get me toned better than the weight gain?

To be honest, I would stick with the gainer. If you have gained mass and you have noticed yourself looking more toned, then why change things at all?
You say you want to put on muscle now, as opposed to body mass, but muscle is lean body mass. If you haven't seen any appreciable increase in bodyfat and are happy with the mass you've gained thus far, I would suggest staying with the gainer.

If you want to stop the gainer, I would suggest staying with ON and choose their whey. It's the best I've ever tried and can't recommend it highly enough.

Like Hardtrainer says, you've put on a load of mass, not gotten too fat and still feel toned, so presumably a large percentage of it was muscle? Stick with whatever you're doing, it's working.

The grass is always greener on the other side and all that like....
