Thoughts on this...?

So, finished up my 2nd week of training today, and weighed myself. In the last week i have lost 3lbs.

Now, what's kind of ****ty is my BF% is exactly the same. At first i was quite disheartened. I didn't care what my weight was as long as my BF% improved.

So, i'm afraid that i may have just lost muscle, on the other hand maybe the BF reading is not accurate. After all if i've lost weight surely the BF has to change, even if the difference is minuscule. Plus it was done on one of those machines that sends a current through your body.

    Any thoughts people? Cheers!!

Yes, it's only been two weeks. Have some patience ;)

These things take time and 14 days into a regime is waaaaay too soon to be drawing any conclusions. Keep taking measurements and bf readings and scale weights and note them down. Then, after at least 10 to 12 weeks you can look at overall progress. If you start looking at the minutiae on a week to week basis you'll only drive yourself mad.

At least the scales readings are changing in the right direction, but for the record those bf machines are sh*te and hugely unreliable. Clothes and the mirror will be a much more accurate source of info.

Cool and the gang, it has only been two weeks. Although the drop in weight is only in the last week, i didn't weigh myself before the 1st week.

I was just afraid i was loosing muscle, which is definitely not what i want. And i have noticed differences, legs are more toned and my biceps are definitely firmer etc.

The current based BF calculators are heavily influenced by your levels of hydration.

But as mentioned, you're looking better and feeling firmer so that's the good news.

maybe the BF reading is not accurate.
Definitely, I wouldnt even bother using it. It is not even "better than nothing", not using anything would be better!. Get a calipers if you really want. Take photos & measurements to track progress. Even with the calipers do not bother calculating your BF, just take note of the mm readings, if they are going down then your are losing fat.

Those machines measure electrical resistance of the body- and as mentioned it varies with hydration hugely.

but what i feel is that you should at the moment be getting stronger better core getting used to propper rom not developing bad habits and starting to get a "feel" for yer body

don't weigh yerself don't do bodyfat but note how long it takes you to recover
how strong and toned you feel and how your body reacts when you think "hey its time to work"

theres lots of stuff here and elsewhere to read and educate yerself and rember ifd you wanna get big eat well and often do heavy excersise then rest

OP, don't bother with fat-measuring devices - with the possible exception of fat calipers - there a waste of time.

If you are trying to lose fat, the best way of measuring this is the old-fashioned , simplest method - how you look in the mirrror and how well your t-shirts and jeans fit. Bear in mind that it will take a while to see a difference most likely. However, the jeans I bought a year or so back are now like clown pants on me and I am fitting easily into t-shirts now that I didn't wear 6 months ago because they made my gut show.

I figure I have dropped from a 36 to 34 inch jean size in the space of 4-5 months (by no means have I been a saint during this period diet wise - but I have worked out hard each week). My main advice is focus on your diet and the rest will follow.

I got weighed in on the elec scales in the gym last night... Guy asked me my age and height and then was able to tell me my BFI, Fat percentage etc and several other readings which I forget...

Are these accurate? Is it not a pretty sweeping generalisation to say that everyone who is 25, 6ft and 13st10 (like me) has 14.5% body fat??

Or am I misunderstanding what body fat% is? ???

that's complete bullsh1t unless he took some form of measurement from you specifically for your BF% then he is blowing smoke up your ass
