What sort of payout structure will it be - based on capacity of 18k (500x36)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,915 ✭✭✭✭menoscemo

    Jp,
How many games in Round 1, you say 4 groups on 9 teams, but will there be 5games in each round with each team member getting a game? If so, any team might earn as much as 25000 bonus chips for final.....

Edit, I reread post and realised there are 5 games in each round and players only earn their own starting stack for final table.

Me and warper (John Corry) will defo get a team in.

JP. i think you could actually give yourself some kudos by guaranteing 18k. IMO theres no way that you wont get 36 teams for this, so its not even sticking your neck out.

You could probably get double the numbers proposed

Agree that you will easily and quickly sell out. You already have about 10 or so teams from here, and probably a few from your pub games as well. I don't think a guarantee is necessary, but I don't think there will be a problem selling this out.

I haven't decided yet, but it will either be top 3 or top 4 teams.

    If top 3
    1st 50% = €9000 or €1800 each
    2nd 30% = €5400 or €1080 each
    3rd 20% = €3600 or €720 each

    If top 4
    1st 50% = €9000 or €1800 each
    2nd 25% = €4500 or €900 each
    3rd 15% = €2700 or €540 each
    4th 10% = €1800 or €360 each

JP, this might be a difficult one, but if you fill up the team entries on a 1st come 1st serviced basis, you might be left with people booking a team just for the sake of it and not being able to fill it.

There's a lot of good players that dont read boards, or dont read boards every day and they may miss the boat on this. You might be better off reserving 6 or 8 teams for such circumstances.

seem like a gr8 idea, but whats da craic with the 20% reg fee?? If it is nessecary to charge 20 euro to cover your costs etc, would u not make it a 200 per player 1k per team and offer poker players some value for money. For the person who takes poker seriously 20% is crazy as it means u hav 2 hav a serious edge on the game, 20% is ok for fun event like ipo but is it now becoming the norm????

I've no probs with paying €20 reg on a €100 game when the game is worth playing in(as in structure wise and organisation wise). No independant operator outside of a casino can run a game like this properly on a €10 reg fee.Take into account costs for hall hire, dealers, equipment,TD,desk staff etc etc. I could safely say that JP will only break even with the €20 reg fee, and hopefully he makes a few quid on the cash tables afterwards. Surely this cant be that hard to understand?

    Hi Tony,

I will be reserving 12 Team places for lads that play my pub tournies as most of them don't read boards.

Also following on from last Sundays game when i had 37 players to fill 25 places for the EPT syndicate game and only 16 of them turned up. I will be taking a booking deposit with will be non refundable if a Team pulls out with less than 1 week to ago. The booking deposit will be €200

I will hold all Team's up to a month before the tournie without deposit. After this point team's that haven't paid their desposit will lose their place.

U dont Realise the costs of these events ? Ours is 175 + 35 for the 3 day in Feb room Hire is 650 per day Dealers and accomadation and floor we wil not cover the costs through this for 3 days but will make a few quid on the cash tables by getting numbers .

U cannot be serious to question €20 for 2 days of poker or €35 for 3 days u are paying for Quality and service which JP provides I mean u ar payin €10 per Day to play Now come on . Seriously .

The Percentage of this at 20% makes no diff as the tournie could be 200+20 and this would be ok with u right its more affordable at 100 , My point is that it is not a percentage of teh prizepool taken it is a set fee for 2 days of poker and Really I have no problem handing €20 over to rent his tables have dealers at my table . Im sure he will not budget food with this in Dublin so i know what i am payin the reg for i am happy

Some Organisers take 10% reg on 100 and then take a percentage also so i would rather it down on paper like it is for all to see

    Hi Smootcall,

Unfortunately it would be impossible to run this Tournament on a 10%.

Take dealers wages for example.... Unlike in a MTT when players get knocked out and tables are balanced, dealers become free to either dealer a SnG, cash game or be taken off the clock. Thus either reducing cost or increasing revenue. However as this Team event is all STT this will not be possible!! As a result dealers wages will be at least triple what they would be if i ran this as a MTT.

Thats before i add in food costs. I'm not even considering running this in a Hotel as the room hire alone for 2 days, one been a Saturday (prime wedding day for Hotels) would be sky high. I'm hoping to run this in a GAA club or bar that has a function room at no cost.

    Regards the €200 per person.
I want to keep this cheap for everyone. While most of the players here on boards will play a €200 game, most of my customer base (i.e. my reguler weekly pub players) a €100 & reg is at the top end of what they will play. I have run tournaments in the past with a higher buy in with great structures aimed for boards players which have not been economically viable due to low numbers.

I hope this goes in some way to answering your concerns regarding this event.

    Jp

The response has been great so far. I may look into this as an option is this fills up fast.

However if i double the numbers time may be an issue, as it may not finish in 2 days. I will have a better idea of my timeline after my triple shoot out next weekend.

cheers jp ur explanation was fair enough just like the reg fee kept as low as possible in the interests of poker players.

    as for big slicks repsonse:

the Percentage of this at 20% makes no diff as the tournie could be 200+20 and this would be ok with u right its more affordable at 100 , My point is that it is not a percentage of the prizepool taken it is a set fee for 2 days of poker and Really I have no problem handing €20 over to rent his tables have dealers at my table

this is complete garbage of course it makes a difference. if its 200+20 then i playing for a 36k prize pool. For instance if one reckons they are 5% ahead of the game then u hav a plus 5% positive equity playen this tourney, if its 20% u have a negatibe 5% equity. 2 beat a game by more than 20% is extremly difficult and therefore for those which poker is a source of income, and not just a form of entertainment, this tournament offers no value

I have reserved 12 team for my pub players. which leaves 24 teams of the 24 teams 17 have been reserved at the moment.

These will only remain reserved until the 8th February without a deposit.

If enough teams come forward with deposits and this gets sold out i will look at allowing one more group, so 9 more teams. however this will mean that either the blind structure will need to be amended or having some games on the friday night.

    Hi Dom,

You can leave a deposit in Winners Card Club between now and the 8th to reserve your teams place. The booking deposit will be €200 and will be non refundable if a Team pulls out with less than 1 week to ago.

The Reason for such a large booking deposit is to ensure only teams that are serious about playing this event have a place reserved as i have no doubt this will sell out. I don't to be telling people that it is booked out and then on the day 10 teams don't turn up.

I will try and make provisions with the Jackpot, SE, Fitz and CHL's to see if players can leave a deposit there and i will go collect it from them.

At the Moment we have 20 Teams reserved.
