Rowing machine in Aldi (Austria) - opinions please

This rowing machine is in Aldi from thursday over here.

To translate any of the useful stuff basically there are 8 resistance settings, LCD screen etc.. and it folds up.

I used to have a yoke like this but the movement seemed very unnatural. The one above seems more like a concept 2 and seems like it should be much better in that sense.

So does it look like a decent enough machine or is it a waste of money?

Concept 2 are the gold standard by far, and any other brand is usually going to fall well short of it.

At a glance, i'm concerned about the angle at which the handle connects. It seems that you're not pullin perpendicular to the fly wheel, since it's below you. I'm unsure how this will impact the performance but I imagine it would definitely change the feel and the force component of rowing.

Added to that I've a general distrust of most things from Aldi.

I have a mate who was a World Champion representing Romania in rowing. He simply refuses to "indoor row" on anything other than a Concept.

It's not him being picky, it's just a completely different beast to other rowers.

I can understand this from a top rower but I just need something for cardio for the winter (it gets a tad cold outside and it snows, lots). There's a big difference between 200€ and 1500€!

My take on the angle is that it leaves the flywheel at the same height as the concept 2 which is why it looks like a similar stroke to me (albeit different forces due to where the cable leaves it.

Got one of these last january - there's a spring in the counting mechanism which repeatedly breaks - 4 or 5 times so far. Manufacturer sent me a bag of replacement springs but not really satisfactory.... If you don't want timer or counting consider it maybe.

    That bad! :o
Is there a distance function on it too? How does it feel to row in comparison to a concept 2?
