I'm working my way through a box of Casilan 90 at the moment. Picked it up from boots a few weeks ago. Neutral taste, fine on porridge and water when added in small spoonfulls. Directions are to add "two heaped desert spoonfuls" (16g) at a time. I find that a bit too much so instead have about half as much more often during the day.

According to the box Casilan 90 "contains the full range of amino acids". So amino acids are the foundation on which protein is built?

Any opinions on this stuff vs whey? I'm finding it a nice change from the sweetened whey protein which seems to be higher in cals. It is too early to say if it is having an effect on my training.

Pre-digested aa's tend to bring mixed results, usually depending on what the rest of your diet like.

If you get plenty of protein anyway, they more than likely won't do anything great. Pre-digested aa's actually get digested too fast for your body to abosrb them properly, whereas with whey there's still some breakdown to be done. Plus you're losing out on a thermogenic effect of wholefood so for fat-loss again wholefood or whey would be better.

They certainly won't do you any harm though!

I cant comment on how good it is, but it is very expensive, in tescos anyway. How much is it per kg in boots?

g'em - thanks for that info. I did a quick search based upon the above and what you said seems to be true.

rubadub - cannot remember exactly what I paid but is seemed cheap at the time compared to whey. Having a quick search on boots.co.uk I see that it is priced now at £7.49

£30 per kilo- about €45 per kilo. I am presuming the "90" is 90% so that is about €50 per kilo of pure protein, thats around the same price as chicken fillets or steak.

where do you buy your chicken from?!? Chicken is usually in or around €10-12 per kilo, and even whey is approx €25-30 per kilo. So if that price extraction is right, that's super expensive.

Sorry I was saying it is the same price per gram of protein.

Your chicken is ~20% protein, so at €10 per kilo chicken, it is €50 per kilo of protein- i.e. €50 gets you 5 kilos of chicken which contains 1kg of protein
