acording to a guy in dixons and another in pc world 37inch are not being made any more so therefore parts will be harder to get.
that tv is probably lying around about a year in a warehouse .

just off the phone to philips and they confirmed 37 are not in production no more.
just letting you know .. as i was after a 37inch also..

Not many people get TV's fixed anymore, especially not plasmas/LCD's if they are not under waranty as they are so expensive to fix. So I dont think this is a valid argument, also if your tv IS broken under waranty, they are obliged to either fix or replace it, so if no parts available... happy days! new TV :D

Not saying they're wrong but Dixons and PCWorld are part of the same group. it might be worth getting a second opinion. It could possibly be that Dixons & PCWorld are trying to shift their 42" TVs. Some salespeople will tell you anything. ;)

37" is still a reasonable size. It's not like houses and apartments are suddenly getting bigger!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭branners69

This must be a mistake, if you look closely you will see it's under the 32" lcd category!

And if you select to see all the Hanns lcds, you will notice that the 32" is selling for 448 sterling!

By the way if its not a mistake, has anyone read any reviews of this tv?

well went to check out and it tells me that the weight of my basket is 0.5KG...
    so delivery is only 20pounds...

#all that does not seem right....
    anyone place an order?

Exactly, and sure they still make 19" TVs, why didn't they suddenly stop making them too??

just off the phone to philips and they confirmed 37 are not in production no more.

Strange as Dunnes have just started selling a 37" Philips for €949.

I'd say it is the right price.

The same TV is only a little bit more £399 here:
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125720

Gets very positive reviews on eBuyer (they don't deliver to Ireland though).

You can see a video review of the smaller 32" model here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/hannspree-jt01-32u1-000g/4505-6482_7-32146139.html?tag=uolst

which is pretty positive too. There's a huge 16 page discussion of it here (originally it was £500):
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=375394

I think the real clincher will be the delivery costs, the £20 quoted above seems very cheap (the fact it shows up in the cart as only 0.5kg might be the reason for this).

But if you can get the whole thing delivered for under €600 I think it's a great deal and I might go for one myself. Probably worth ringing the company to clarify the matter, I've also never heard of them before.

If anyone wants to be brave and order one let us know how you get on, I might follow you:)

We sold loads of these exact same TV's in Peats. They are a decent enough budget brand. We had very few back and most people seemed quite happy with them.

Why not eliminate the middle-man and just nick them yourself if you're happy to buy goods you assume to be stolen?

    Oh, and it's knacker btw.

Nothing to do with the bargain being talked about, and promoting the buying of possibly stolen goods. I can see you have a long future here in boards. Reported, not for any PC crap, but trying to get stolen goods.

Has anyone ever bought off saverstore.com and what's the delivery like to Ireland. Their Norton 2008 anti-virus looks good value !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭branners69

I see people here have used them - but I also see here that they have recently enough been renamed from savastore which seems to have gone under!

Once you buy with a credit card I am assuming you cant go wrong!

All we need is for one person to take the chance!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 53 ✭✭shazba

Well just bought Norton Anti-Virus, though wasn't as cheap as I thought. Ended up at 59 euros. But went with Paypal option for safety purposes.

Looks ok but has anyone actually ordered one?

    Yeah, been wondering this too.

Saw a 37" Philips model for 900 euros in Dunnes today.. so this is a bargain but think i might actually prefer a name brand.

Whilst I used the original saverstore.com without any problems,
there is mixed feedback online about the new company that just
bought them out - totally new company now just using the name.

One thing I can vouch for is that you'll receive a tonne of advertising
e-mail/spam from them -I had to add them to my block list recently.

Sorry for dredging this thread up again, but I'm in need of a filler tv until the 1080p samsungs come down to a reasonable level.

I don't want to use saverstore, had a bad experience with them resulting in a cancelled credit card  but misco do the same model for about £4 more.

    http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=292478&CatId=0

So, to anyone who has actually seen one, is it really a bargain? Or is it just cheap?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,540 ✭✭✭blobert

That's the YT model the other one is JT and supposed to be a bit better: it's newer, 2xHDMI inputs versus 1 etc, looks a bit nicer.

Delivery seems to be less than £20 though making it a good deal.

Saverstore seem to be out of stock at the moment so this might be one of the only places to get it from.

Theres a 115 page discussion of theses TVs here:

    You're quite right. Pity :(

    Nevertheless, Misco to Ireland:

    TV: £323.40
    Shipping: £13.45
    Vat: £58.95
    Total: £395.80
    xe.com to €567

Just saw same tv on elara.ie. EUR100 more expensive!

    http://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MMEV310039

Wonder if they have a price promise? Even if thy knocked about 60 quid off, you could pick it up from Parkwest. Easier to bring back also.

I emailed them and they said they wont match UK prices.

I also emailed Misco to see if they were going to get the JT model in but they have yet to reply.

This TV is €1000 on the Peats website so I think it's a pretty good deal.

You can get the YT model from PC World business for about €570 including delivery:

    http://www.pcwb.ie/catalogue/item/HSLCD001

But I've just noticed that is ex Vat!

Paid euro 900 for two of these 32" units delivered. They are as good or better than the Samsung 32" that I bought 2 years ago. I like the connection ports covered and tidy in the back. Ordering was easy but I had to provide some address ID (Driver licence) as to the credit card purchase. Other wise order went through on Thursday and got the stuff delivered Tuesday with the Bank holiday in between. Still getting used to.

    Hi Guys,

Just to let you know I finally ordered one of these JT Hannsprees today from Saverstore.com:
    http://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/Product.aspx?product_id=20015269&rstrat=12732

The postage price comes up at about £60 on their website but I rang up and ordered on the phone for £399 including delivery.

Works out at just over €570 on xe.com, the cheapest 37" I've seen anywhere and it seems to get positive reviews.

Will let you know what I think when it arrives in a few days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,728 ✭✭✭brightkane

    did it arrive yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Onikage

More importantly, have they confirmed shipping yet? Once it gets to the courier, it should arrive within a few days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,540 ✭✭✭blobert

Good timing, the NTL man is currently installing a TV point in my room and I just got an email to confirm the TV shipped today (ordered 05/11).

Will let you know what I think when it arrives in a few days.

They seem to have put the price up but I'm sure with a bit af haggling you might be able to get it for £399 including delivery. Shows up as €580.53 on my credit card receipt, surely can't go too far wrong with a 37" LCD for that price :)

Hmmm, dont know if that hannsprees gonna work!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭Onikage

Good to hear, I've had a few ups and downs with philips tellies.

Would it help if the price was down to €500 plus shipping?
    http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/635106/art/hannspree/xv37-lcd-television.html

At that price you could afford to shave off a bit here and there!

Will post when it arrives and I get a chance to see what it's like.

Pretty good. It makes bad quality standard tv look awful, but then again so do large Sony CRTs. I'm using it as a monitor this week and it looks the business. HD video is top notch too.
