Unfortunately, I think most places know if they stocked Diezel or whatever, guys would go in droves to try them out, and then order them for a grand less from thomann :D

maybe if these shops would cop on and sell stuff at fair prices instead of acting like they ain't makin' a big markup, people would bother buying in ireland

until the shops stop charging ridiculous prices and making disproportionally high profits, then i'll keep on buying from abroad. 600 euros for a mexican strat? does that come with some cocaine, and a tub of vaseline? they're not 600 euro guitars, end of story.

    That's true.

Guess I'll just have to buy that VH4 and test it out in the comfort of my own home? ;)

Record an album with it, and then use thomanns 30 day money back offer to send it back. That'll teach 'em for losing my cab ;)

    Hah! Nice thinking... :D

If I had a VH4 I doubt I'd want to send it back though, that's the problem.

I don't think these've been posted yet, but what do people think about the H&K amps?

And here's a Mesa Boogie Road King:

Which is probably one of the few amps that has as much going on at the back as it does on the front:

I recorded a couple of tracks with a Tri-amp, its an absolute monster, But i would never consider using it as a gigging amp, seems like there could be a lot of maintenance involved!

Then again, there was smoke pouring out of my marshall last night... Stupid fuses..

You are all putting in big MOFO amps with lots of knobs etc. How about this 1/4 watt amp!!

    Sound sample here.

    How about this fellow?

    35a670e0.jpg

I've heard some good things about this amp in particular, it's Italian made, and the novel thing is, they actually built a rackspace into the head, so you could probably stick an FX unit in there like a G Major or something.

Is it just me or does that little lanelie sound sterile?

That's a fantastic little feature actually, nice little design idea.

    What does sterile sound like?

Keep in mind that this is a 1/4 watt tube amp with a 6" speaker for less than $350. I'm tempted. But then again every f***ing amp tempts me :p

maybe it's just this PC speaker ....Will give it a proper listen when i get home.
I think i saw this amp reviewed a while back in a gutar mag and it got good reviews... i like small amps that you can crank at bedroom level :D

$350? That's a little expensive for something which using half an ECC83 as an output driver.

I'm all for low watt... but that means a 5 watt SE amp to me. ;)

In my opinion the Dr Z mini is hard to beat for a small 5 Watt amp

    Big bucks though....

Oh yeah, I love the idea, but it's only 1 rack space, so it does kind of limit you to what you want to put in there. I'd say if you wanted a rackmount Pod in there, you'd be out of luck.

But yeah, complaints aside, it really is a fantastic feature, and very forward thinking. Depending on what you need, instead of running a seperate rack, you can have the complete package all in the one head, instead of going for a very large rack system.

Plus, they're supposed to be really good amps. ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

Yeah, the G-major, G-system, G-force, eventide eclipse, etc. most of those are 1 unit.

So if youre looking to incorporate them with a head setup, you've nowhere to put it...sit it on the head and you'll need a small 1u rack or something, so it's 1 extra thing to carry around and hookup. No big deal, but handy to have it in the head all the same.

Nice unit, pretty good prices on ebay too.

Hmm, ever heard much about Traynor?

    traynor_ycs100h_1.jpg

Lots of knobs on that one.

Yeah I've heard of them KH. They make some awesome bass amps too but unfortunately they don't seem to be available in Europe :(

    That's a pity.

It definitely looks like a rather unique head anyway, not content with being the standard head shape.

Heard some good things about these babies, especially the Cobra.

That's true, although i've also heard about a lot of reliability issues with Framus amps.

Ah, that's a pity. I think German amps have some serious rep, considering Engl, Diezel and Bogner.

Yeah, it is a pity. I have to say I think they look pretty crappy too, they don't have the styling down to the same extent as some of the nice amps out there.

Bogner are made in USA fwiw ;)
