Wheres the cheapest place to get the Nintendo wii?

Had a look around town today and hmv seemed to be the cheapest at 270 plus student discount would knock that down another %10. :)

Definitely buying it on Saturday and just wanted to make sure i'm getting the best deal.

    Thx

yesterday I saw the Wii + Wii Sports for €199, new.

Unfortunately this was in an electronics shop in Italy... Still, makes you think about how much cream the Irish shops are skimming...

This is the site: http://www.mediaworld.it/offerte-promozioni/volantino/entertainment/videogame.html (scroll 3/4 down the page to see the deal. Not sure if they deliver abroad though)

Are you sure the student discount works for consoles?

Cork City cleaned out of Wii. Only place with some left is Smyths. Xtra Vision Midleton have 8 on pre-order and don't know when they will get any more.
Game, HMV Virgin etc didn't know when they would get stock in.

Wii and 2 chart games in Virgin for 310. Picked one up over the weekend with Resident evil 4 and Zelda.

I might be looking to pick a Wii up in the states, hoping to take advantage of the "black friday" sales. Before I go, what would I need to play it here? Are the games region sensitive etc?

The Wii is regioned so none of the games here would work on your american Wii. You might be able to get it chipped so that it would work but im not sure.
Would be alot of hassle to!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,931 ✭✭✭Zab

Seems to be a Japanese version, and I don't know if it has sports (do they all have sports?) but anyway ...

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2190

~220 inc free shipping. ~47 of an extra nunchuck/remote set.

Never ordered off the place. Other people from boards have.

    2 things:

    1. Saw an ad on TV in the gym (half an hour ago) for Harvey Normans. They say they have all the main consoles in stock right now (including Wiis)

    2. Might only be an option to some of you, but Viking Direct are advertising Wiis in their latest catalogue (christmas special) for €199 !! You might need to have a business account to use them though...

Their website is www.vikingdirect.ie, but its not listed (their search function doesn't seem to be working properly - it says there are 16 Wii products there, but nothing is listed). Their phone number is 1890 818120.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,964 ✭✭✭Hmm_Messiah

they are discontinued in Viking and won't be restocked or shown on the website

If I was to get one delivered from Germany, would I have to get a transformer to convert to our voltage?

No, the power is the same, you'd just need an 2 pin (eu) to 3-pin converter.

Thats good. Just picked up 2 in Game in Gothenburg. Almost 300 yo yos a pop tho.

Didn't realise how heavy they are also. Lucky im not flying ryanair!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 219 ✭✭dlane99

is it just me or is 350e that komplett are charging a complete rip off?

If the console retails for 270 and they sell the NYKO wireless bar for 29.50,
shouldnt that mean that the bundle they are offering should cost less than 300e?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,853 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

They probably wont deliver in time anyway. Last year I had booked two for launch day and in the last second it fell through when I couldnt prebook elsewhere. They kept sending emails sending it was put back further and further. Eventually it would have been mid march when I would receive my wii. Thankfully Ken Blacks in Portlaoise got a surprise shipment and I cancelled my Komplett order. Havent used them again since out of disgust.
