    Beginner here and i havent a clue.

    I was told to get either Skype or Voip to make cheap international calls from my mobile phone. Is this possible and would it be much cheaper (i'll be calling Ireland from Australia), how much would it cost me?

    Also whats better/cheaper/easier to setup and use: Skype or Voipbuster

    What sort of mobile phone have you?
    If it's capable of connecting to the web via WiFi (from a local hotspot) then you can. Like this.
    Some phones like the new Nokia N95 can even let you make VoIP calls on the SIP protocol, a commoner protocol than Skype's.

    But these mobiles are expensive.
    Have you an internet connection at home or work?
    If it's just cheap calls to Australia that you want you'd do that simpler by getting proper VoIP on your web connection.
    This can be done in 2 ways:
    1) By getting hardware (€50 - €100) to do the VoIP conversion - this gives better call quality.
    2) By downloading a free "Softphone" - software that does the VoIP conversion and allows a PC user to use the computer to make calls.
    Calls to Australia are about
    rates.aspx
    As you see the calls to mobiles are 10 times the cost of calls to landlines.


    I have no experience of VoIPbuster.
