hello everyone I have just started doing spinning programmes and am also doing a weights programme, i often am short on time so i am currently doing both in one session, i am just wondering is that counterproductive, in terms of what type of weight lifting i am doing i am trying to increase strength and tone but i am not trying to build much mass. thanks very much for the help

Always do the weights first, that way you are full of energy so lift to your full capability- works the muscles more and triggers more growth. Also since your muscles are then spent after the weights when doing the cardio you are more likely to burn fat as fuel. If you want to get "toned" you should be aiming to add as much mass as possible, if you put on too much then lay off it and just do cardio and the muscle will go down in size.- What I am saying is building muscle is not as easy as most thing, and people you see that you consider "toned", are probably doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Are you male, female, height weight, how often do you train?
    Diet?

    male

    6ft

    83kgs

training: spinning twice a week, weight sessions 3 times a week, and 3/2 training sessions of ultimate frisbee which is i suppose cardio because it is a lot of running/sprinting, I also swim quite a bit (3 times a week maybe but not to maximum capacity if you know what i mean)

i am after coming out of a summer of a lot of cycling so that is why i wanted to spin, with the irish winter coming i still want to maintain some of my cycling fitness

Diet:Muesli/weetabix for breakfast, Meat veg for lunch, dinner is normally a stirfry( which would have quite a bit of meat) or else say lasagne or pasta. in between is where I struggle, I am in college during the day and I have few eating options or at least i think i do, i am in a bad habit of not doing the whole packed lunch thing, cheers for the replies
