Less than 24 hours to go before the game and the Aussies are beginning to bad mouth the English team in the press, are they scared? a little worried? or just trying to psyche-out the opposition?

Aussies will probably win "but I shall be rooting for England all the way" good luck to Scotland also on Sunday ................

Really hope this one turns out to be a decent game, England should be a bit more of a force to reckon with now they have a bit of momentum and Wilkinson in the side

We lost that game by putting Yachvili at SH... Had we left Mignoni we would have hammered them! Thanks again Bernard! You big balloon...

Anyway, hope England gets owned by Australia! 57 - 6 would be a nice score! :D

I reckon England wil lbe within 15 of Australia at the end... Dunno why just have a "feelin"... Australia are, imho not as strong as either NZ or SA, so if England had / have ANY hope at all it would be against them...

Lets see... Sadly, I'm feckun working so can't watch it  (anyone know any good streaming TV sites ???)

    Totally agree!!! Come on England!!

This England side is not at all good enough to make the semis. They carry far too many passengers to be a decent force in reality.

They have a reasonable pack but the backs haven't shown anything really that indicates they'll be able to compete with the likes of Latham, Mortlock, Giteau and Tuqiri. They're only chance IMO will be if they bully the aussies up front which is unlikely going on what we've seen already.

    Australia by 15-20 for me.

Australia's centre's will own Catt and the othe guy (cant even think of his name). Losing Farrell is quite a blow for them IMO. I can see Giteau and Mortlock (the NEW BOD and D'arcy :P) getting 4 tries between the two of them.

some of the sledging has been excessive. it just goes to show how worried the Australians are, they could lose this match beacuse of that. which would be a shame because Australia are far stronger than this current English team. they should watch the videos of when france's back row battered Wilkinson in Paris.
Wilkinson can only do damage when the English forwards dominate the physical exchanges.

Mike Catt was getting trampled by Lomu in 1995, and on the lions tour in 97, thats a hell of a lot of top level rugby he's played in, no-way is he capable of playing for more then 50 minutes.

It should be an interesting game, I think the creativity in the Aussie backline will see them through, Mortlock, Giteau & Latham are all possibly the best players in their position in the world.

England playing the better. Some silly frees given away and some strange decisions by the ref during the scrums.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

It's amazing that out of all the scrums in the world (the good, the bad and the ugly), the Aussies seem to be the only ones who consistently fold like deck-chairs when pressured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

Aussies look like they're mentally imploding. This will be bizarre if a team as bad as England get to the semi-finals.

    *EDIT* Jonny misses!

Lote in in the corner after sustained pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

    Half-time: Aus 10-6 England.

Who'd have thought Jonny would have missed two kickable penalties?

I was very relieved to see Australia score a try, I have money on 3 tries or more in this game.

England playing some snappy football, two poor misses from Wilko. Had that early inside pass been clean England might be romping clear by now.

England to win if they forwards continue at ruck and scrum time. Aussies are desperate to get a platform from something and are very rarely getting that. Some great runs by England. Moody=Bravest player in world rugby. The amount of times he's just dived in to get the ball when others would stand of is really inspirational if not a bit mad!

Aussie set piece is under serious pressure. England could do something here if the right substitutions are made up front after an hour if you ask me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

He should be binned for that. He never made any effort to get back on side. I hope Eng go for a pushover.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Both sides aren't looking worthy of a semi place at the moment to be honest.

It's definitely looking like a Bok v NZ final.

    Come on bokke!

Here's the English changes I was waiting for, Stevens, Worsely etc. I think the English pack might just pull this out of the bag.

10 mins left, England on the verge of the semis. Who'd have thought!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Both sides are playing incredibly poor rugby. I can't believe that England are going to make it through.

Cannon fodder for New Zealand next week.

    Will JW miss???

Jonny misses pen from halfway. Will it be costly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,744 ✭✭✭kleefarr

He did. Not good. Still a pen or drop for Aus to win. :(

Mortlock now with a very difficult kick, surely a must for Australia.

He misses. 2 mins left, can't see any way back now.

Oh my how the Aussies have fallen. I guess this is what happens when you come through the group stages not having been tested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,744 ✭✭✭kleefarr

Good enough for the cocky Aussies!!!! Well done England!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,233 ✭✭✭darkskol

    yeah great result for england

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

    I'm delighted to be honest.

A couple of things came home to roost for Oz:

1/ Their scrum is utter toss. Why it's only England who seem to be able to exploit this fully is a mystery.

2/ Mortlock probably isn't a top class kicker. It doesn't matter when you're playing in a side racking up the points. It does matter when you get dragged into a dog-fight.

    LOLz at Neil Francis.

    C'mon France! (can't belive I said that).

    Mike.

Aussie pack didn't turn up and it seemed there was no leadership on their side. England did their basics well and 4 kicks off Jonny was enough in the end.

+1 - England done a great job though! Fair play!
I have a funny feeling there'll be no triple crown for Ireland next year!
