i just found this in an ausralian rugby blog..... Who knows ?

yeah england really have no shot. The aussie b teams perforance was average but it was pissing down rain so you arent going to score alot of points and canada defended well anyway. Alot of greedy play by the aussies though which i was dissapointed in.

My big call is france. I figure if beauxis starts at 10 and michelak comes in at about 60 minutes they will beat the all blacks, or all greys as they will probably be for the match witch is another supersticious problem for the blacks. They really havent had to try at all the AB’s and have mixed up thier combinations whereas france looked very smooth for long periods yesterday against the georgians who have had a strong tournament.
So my semis are AUS/FRANCE and ARGIES/SAFFAS. From there it is hard to say, frogs back at home after upsetting the AB’s? they gotta win from there. In another shock the final game of the tournament will be the same as the first with a different result..FRANCE defeat ARGENTINA!!

keith wood said same on newstalk last night basically he said depends which france turn up. also heard someone saying how the all blacks haven't had a hard game thats why scotland sent out the second team to stop them getting a hard game will it make a difference i doubt it but you never know. guess we'll find out soon.
as for england if australia think they've no hope why all the stuff about refs in the papers
"Wallaby coach, John Connolly, indulged in a pre-match wind-up yesterday, claiming that he had contacted RWC referees' manager, Paddy O'Brien, to warn him of the dirty tactics likely to be used by England hooker, Mark Regan."
sounds like hes not that confident

he said depends which france turn up.
Wow, that's not a Clichè
There are two types of France that can turn out - one which loses by 10 points, and one which loses by 30 points. If you gave me odds of 100-1 on them I'd be reluctant to put a fiver on.

keith wood .. on newstalk last night basically .. said depends which france turn up.

Nah. It depends on which New Zealand shows up. All it takes is one complete gob****e having a nightmare day and the whole thing can unravel.

Look what happened eight years ago when the two countries played a semi final. New Zealand were leading 24-10 early in the second half, then France went and scored 33 points without reply. Eventually the game ended up France 43 NZ 31.

Although few All Blacks covered themselves in glory in that game, one stood out for a performance of extraordinary ineptitude and cowardice and with all the attention to his duties one might expect of a headless chicken.

Got the link open? Roll it there Collette.

19mins From a maul on the left hand side, diminutive French wing Christophe Dominici makes a blind side break and goes past his opposite number (the All Black number 14) as if he wasn't there. Well he was, except he was so dozy that he was caught completely out of position and didn't even attempt a tackle. Dominici is caught just short of the line but from the ensuing quick ruck France score under the posts. 7pts

51mins A French kick deep into the All Black 22 is retrieved by Lomu who passes inside to the All Black no 14. He runs into contact but when ankle tapped, instead of protecting the ball he dives like an Italian soccer player and coughs up the ball straight into a French player's hands. France take it through a couple of phases and drop a goal. 3pts

From the ensuing kick off France kick the ball at the All Black no 14. Seeing a French player half his size line him up for a man-and-ball he ducks out of the challenge and fumbles the ball forward. At the ensuing French scrum the All Black cover goes offside and France kick the penalty. 3pts

59 mins After wandering aimlessly inside off his wing, the All Black no 14 gets involved in a ruck on his side of the park. France win it and kick down the touchline. French left winger runs onto an admittedly lucky bounce but his marker is nowhere to be seen. Try. 7pts

77 mins With time running out for the trailing All Blacks they try a back line move in which their no 14 comes off the right wing into the line of an attack going left. Unfortunately he spills the pass like a 10 year old on a freezing cold day. France flyhack down field and score the clinching try. 7pts

Add those all up an you get a total of 27 points out of a total of 43 scored by France that could be directly attributable to the NZ no 14.

So the question is, if France are going to win this time, which current generation All Black is going to be THIS year's TANA UMAGA?

I really hope France can pull it off. They're the only 6N side to have focussed on the WC properly, and if they go out it's bad for NH rugby in general.
In fairness they have a good chance. Yet again, I think the ABs believe their own hype. The aura of arrogance outside the team is startling anyway. Reading NZ journalists and fora, you get the feeling that the only reason that NZ don't win every WC is because a.They choked but were the best team at it b. the opposition were so psyched up about playing the ABs that NZ were caught cold c. The manager is to blame. I get the feeling that thumping France twice last autumn will be at the back of their minds. And tbh, we haven't seen them play anyone except Scotland A in the WC. They won't steamroll over France like they did Portugal et al. They'd need to be alot more creative than they have been so far.

Lads, the only thing that we had to beat the All Blacks was our 'French Flair'. We put an immediate end to that when we put Laporte in charge. I'm going to Cardiff this morning (it's past midnight! :D ) and I'm sure I will witness France's final game in this competition. I am simply going over to see a nice game of rugby. I don't want us to get hockeyed by 40 points again... I really want us to try this time!

    I'd love a France -v- Argentina Final* though! :p

*Not a chance of that happening though

France will have to have sorted their heads out for this game. If they have anything like the same attitude as they did in their games against NZ this time last year then they have no hope.

I'd love to see them do it, but I don't think they can.

I had a feeling Australia would lose to England so i'm going with my gut on this one too. France to win.

Yeah I really hope the french do it too. I think the stage is right for them in so far as they're underdogs and also maybe the fact they're not at home will benefit them. The pressure may not be felt quite as much. All the pressure is on the ABs.

Should be a great game and the standard will surely be higher than earlier.

Don't mind who progresses in this one, because whatever the outcome it's sure to be a cracking game.

I am inclined to go with NZ , although as with OZ they have not been tested at all. I'd expect them to take this, as for the French, well who knows. Hope it's a good game. I have to say though that unless NZ start to play well, it is really starting to look more like the Springboks' cup.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44 Easy_81

Totally true that NZ and the Aussies have not been tested properly in the lead up to both there games....

Aussies fell to a much more passionate and stronger England.

I hope France do the Kiwis. Would be a shame for the NH and for the home nation to be knocked out. The inclusion of Dan Carter is a big plus for the Kiwis though. Beauxis to play a blinder and kick Le Bleus to victory. :D

For those wondering what happened Betsen, he got struck in the face by one of the AB's, I've rewound it on Sky+, but some reason the TV camera's have only shown the initial tackle of Rockoco.

    Dirty fckers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,739 ✭✭✭Jello

The look on Chabal's face during the Hakka was priceless ;)

Hope Betsen's OK though, he looks really dazed...

when betsen tried to get up , the new zealand no.4 punched him straight on the nose knocked him out , nasty and intentional

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

So thats why they picked Robinson? instead of Chris Jack.

Dirty cheating bastards, intentional and a bloody disgrace.

    Jaysis this is brutal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

The French tactics seem to be to everytime they get possession to boot the ball as far downfield as possible in the hope something positive will happen. They really aren't backing themselves.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,552 ✭✭✭Bobalicious93

thats 3 good chances to take 3 points at each that france have blown. i have a feeling they're gonna regret them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

France back into it in the last 10mins,

If only they got those other 2 kicks.

    13-3 HT.

Wonder will they show the sucker punch Robinson dished out on Betsen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,249 ✭✭✭Stev_o

50/50. Dunno how its going to go. France SHOULD be loosing by much more but they'v hanged on. Now if they dont start score the first point i have a feeling they go out tonight

New Zealand not know that once you go over 10 phases of pick and go you end up knocking it on or some other offense? Ah well works well for time wasting

looked like a punch from Robinson, that said all I watched was it in real-time, you'd need the slo-mo to be sure, he was deffo rocked back with a thud.
