i thought the answer would be more weight but i hurt my back today lifting too much for my capabilities and was told by the person who treated me for the injury that i could get the same results by increasing the reps at what i feel comfortable with. is this true?

    thanks in advance

That doesn't mean the answer isn't more weight, it just means your form was off, or you didn't warm-up properly etc.

Generally dong more "work" will make you stronger i.e more reps or sets or weight lifted and so on. The easiest way of course is to add more weight to the bar and imo the best if you're just talking about strength.

You'd be surprised how hard that is/sounds for most people (not directed at OP).
