should be easy to reload...just stick the box mag in the air and watch it fill itself with the rate of fire...LOL!!!

i am seriously thinking of adding a blacklight to the box mag, some of the light reactive bb's, for some sweet night firing...has to be done

email on the way about that as we speak...just hope he can answer...and the real bad news is it is apparently 400 with the stock spring and doesnt seem to drop too much either...apparently 380 is as about as low as you could expect...UNLESS they change it...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Yeah and I've heard the spring is closer to 500 fps, just fires 400 because of how it's mounted in the gearbox, it's non-standard. Standard springs can be installed without modding though.

ah jesus I need to stop reading this forum. Whats the build quality like from these lads? I think the P&K models are ment to be fairly ****e.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

well downgrading to a 1joule spring will have the nice side-effect of upping the rate of fire :D

works out $367 with 3-5 day shipping, which is €260

ive been debating getting an l96, but i think ill have to wait a couple of weeks for that :D

Build quality is quite good from what I've heard. Maybe not up to CA's quality but still full metal and better then Star's build. The boxmag is supposed to be better then CA's, it has manual autowind and sound operated autowind and it's dumped CA's crappy mousetail lever design.

god if i can get a 1j spring in this...the issue is since the Uk is gone offline with the vc bill, they might not have an incentive to offer the 1j 'fix'...jeeze i would be well pissed to get so close and yet so far...

There's a short review of it on actionhobbys.co.uk btw...
When i first opened the box i was surprised at the weight of the gun at 6.5kg, i own a G&P ranger and that is a real beast to use all day and well due to the cleaver use of alloys though the gun, in fact nearly all the gun is made of alloy its make the AEG very easy to use and handle and easy to shoulder.
To be honest i found i could use it as a standard AEG, upon testing we found the gun had an impressive FPS of 350.
At 1050mm for the MK2 version it is not a small gun, what we did find was that standard M4 mags can be used if you do not want to use the box mag and also on the Mk2 we think a large battery will fit in the stock if you have a custom battery made as it comes with a 9.6v mini as standard, the use of a metal hop unit and PGC style gearbox makes spring swops easy (not covered under warranty if springs are changed from those fitted)
The sights we also liked as they are fully adjustable for windage and elevation and the box mag is nice and cleaver with 3 switch positions for "Off, Fully Auto and Sound operated" the down side we found on the mag is that is could do with some foam in the bottom of the mag to protect the box mag electrics and some foam on the side plate, but thats easy done for the average user, also we did find the Bi-pod a little on the loose side and the ABS fore grip and had some small movement as dose the carry handle, but hey for the price, and in my opinion certainly is one of the best examples of a mid range support gun i have seen and far exceeds the Star and Top version.
I had chance to use the MK2 weekend, performs well but really needs a down grade as .2 bb's are a no good in stock form with the power and also i would recomend cleaning the barrel and maybe a change of hop rubber.
To sum it up, if you want a support gun thats medium in weight but strong, give a good ROF and power, very well finished but prepared to accept the small quirks then this gun is for you.
    * Tested ROF of approx 800 rpm
    * Tested at 350 FPS with .2g BB's
    * Full metal body and bi-pod with ABS stock and fore grip
    * Fully auto and safety
    * 9.6v Mini type battery and charger included
    * Ability to use standard M4 mags (not included)
    * 2500rd approx box mag included
    * Hop-up adjustable
    * This gun MUST use High Grade .2g or .25g BBs.

Easily changeable spring is encouraging, a little disappointed with the 800rpm though tbh, my p90 does over a 1000 with the only modification being a 9.6v battery and 1J spring

of course this just means ill have to up the RoF a little bit :D

just sent an email to gunner, hopefully if they see a few people requesting 1J downgrades they'll be more likely to do it

Edit: Fall: mind if i add a poll to see which variant people are thinking of? trying to decide here myself

well if the review is correct and its doing 350 fps thats still within the 10% of the 1joule limit and after bedding down would probably be @ the limit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

    2000? bah, that's for newb's, im going for 3k!!!!

nah, 800rpm is only 13rps, that's pretty average for an aeg tbh, but 20rps/1200rpm would be nice for an m249

kd i would never say this to anyone...but trust me..there is only the para...the rest of them are like a friggen lance waving about...of course you would have the extra barrel lenght...giving more accuracy...hmmmm

FFS KD..why did you have to do that to me!!! now i CANT make up my mind!!! LOL!!!

blast away on the poll dude, no probs here...

You have to be carefull with power reports with clones. The FPS can vary wildly from one to another. When I got my Chrono I tested all my AEG's, one chrono'd at 342 fps another of the exact same model 379 fps  Lucky they were never brought to a game.

yep good point fiach, you do need to make sure you are a good bit below to avoid bumping into the law...i am seriously considering replacing the spring even after a 1j mod with a ca one tbh...

i wonder will ca react by lowering their prices....?? could be an interesting bun fight about to break out here.....

hmmm... im not really sure which one to go for

    the para looks the secks...

but i like the stock on the mk2, plus the possible option of fitting a custom large battery into the stock would be good

i was considering the minimi but i dont like the foregrip and the folding stock doesnt have much advantage over the para-style one

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Don't worry, I've put those AEG's on ice. They'll never be going to a game untill the power has been reduced.

I'd go for the Mk2 if I was getting one. Fixed stock MG's are much more comfortable to fire while prone.

Good man. I knew that the clones varied intheir perfromance but thats an incredible variation is strength.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

yea, i think im leaning towards the mk2 tbh, from the looks of it, the stock could be changed anyway, and then shorten the barrel so that could always be done at a later date if i changed my mind (or just buy another one, they are cheap enough :p)

Yeah with such a huge jump from one to the other I'm thinking somebody in the factory grabbed the wrong spring and just shoved it in. Quality control is the biggest problem with Chinasoft. Take my VFC AK on the other hand. Reported fps 318 with .20's. My chrono results, 317, 317, 319, 318. Right on the money.

however i do know one part that is mandatory for us all...the guarder elcan sight for 140 odd on ehobby...

See for me thats one of the major differences between clones (JG, DE, BE, Dboys) and the high end stuff (VFC, ICS, CA, TM), tightness.

I have noticed from examining the Dboys M4 up close that the metal appears to be largely recycled or low quality (even if there is plenty of it), whereas on the ICS M4 it is a perfectly smooth matt finish. The joule-age on the higher end ones seem to be more consistent too (by all accounts) being generally within a dozen fps or so of the quoted energy.

yes something sweet about an aeg with 2 modes, FULL and SAFE...!!

also from memory, isnt the battery for the unit in the mag box on them all...now thats from memory and could be complete BS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

flick to 1m10s in this video, you'll see how quick it is to change the springs :D

Fall: that's right, i remember the battery being in the box mag alright, bit of re-wiring would fix that though

thank god changing the spring is such a doddle...

and rewiring to the stock, man you could get a friggen monster batt in there...altho you might need to do a bit of work on accessing it. by all accounts , even the ca ones eats batteries...

and there is a full gearbox from pgc on uncompany if the a&k one isnt up to it...its not cheap at 290 although the ca ones seems a good bit cheaper.

judging by the prices for ca 249 accessories, (the para stock is 195!!! ) i could actually see ca owners buying these as cheaper external replacements

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,021 ✭✭✭Hivemind187

I'm really tempted by the MK2 model ... I just want to pop a scope on it, whack a big battery in there and pi55 BB's down range until I get a cramp in my trigger finger.

The only problem is I think I am too short to shoulder the blasted thing, I cant bring a G3 SG1 to bear how the hell I'll handle a 249 with a full stock is a little worrying.
