Do guys blow-dry their hair?

Well my brother and I were having a little discussion about hair (I was combing my hair at the time because it needed it, yes I realize it's 11 PM, but who are you to judge me, you're on boards.ie). So he called me a sissy for combing my hair, my hair is just over an inch long, his is less than half that.

So i said, "Well at least i don't use a hair-dryer!" in the manliest way possible. He looked taken aback, "You don't use a hair-dryer? Everybody uses a hair-dryer."
I always just towel my hair dry(ish) after a shower, but he always uses the dryer.
So, do most guys use a hair-dryer after showers or a stroll in the ever plentiful rain?

And i don't want to hear "It's personal preference" crap, i know that, its an obvious statement so spare the electrons.

Do you use a hair dryer? (Guys only please, most girls have long hair and need to.) 111 votes

    Yes I do.

I don't use a comb or a hairdryer. If I bother to dry my hair, it's with a towel.

Surpringly i dont blow-dry my hair, considering i've extremely long hair!
nor do i actually comb it, i just run my fingers through it until im satisfied.

i'll towel dry it, but seeing as it so long it doesnt do much so i let it dry naturally. because my hair feels stiff if i i blow dry it.

When I had long hair I towel dried it.

Honestly, men who use a hair drier when their hair is less than 12 inches long are either gay or complete posers.

I blow dry my hair cause I don't want to wait half the flippin' day for the thing to dry only then to realise that it has settled in the most spasticated style ever.

And towel drying never dried my hair properly.

Mines halfway down my back and I blowdry. If not it takes hours to dry by itself, and I usually only shower before going somewhere so I'd need it to be dry.

My hair is never longer than my finger so it's a towel for me. No brushes/combs either.

    QFT

There's only an excuse when it's long, and even then it can be slightly dubious. Back when I had hair down to me arse I towel-dried it. Now it's short(ish) I just let it dry by itself, and stopped using combs a while back.

Using a hairdrier on hair under an inch long is ridiculous.

I suspect a very strong correlation between men who a) have short-medium hair and use hairdriers and b) men who use moisturiser.

might have blow dryed it a few times in my late teens, its currently a grade two all over, so it either drys naturally or with a near by hand towel

    They are practically sexual.

Okay, I showed my brother (aged 15, I'm 20 FYI) this thread, and lets just say he went mental :D
I showed him this post snippet:

    He went ape-sh|t! :D:D

I got a few slaps for it and I couldn't fight back as I just cut my finger and didn't want to get blood on him or anything else. Not a serous few slaps mind, just a little brother fight thing, where we are both smiling throughout. Funny as hell, and totally worth it (my ribs were aching from laughing at him). Some excellent replys so far, keep em coming.

    You do know that blow-dry != blow-job?

We know you get confused on things like that sometimes ...

When confronted with this little gem he replied, "Well [Genghiz], did you ever think that everyone on Boards is gay?"
I couldn't help but laugh at him.

Personally I think you're brother needs to go to his doctor and get him to prescribe him some testicles.

I never let anything I can plug into a wall blow on me. If it's gonna blow, it better have a socket for ME to plug into.

My hairs only to me shoulders, tho:

    Nicht. Never.

I don't have a Ron Burgandy or a White Goodman complex. Nor a Pat Kenny one for that matter.

    Nah I don't use a hairfryer....uhh i mean dryer.

I usually keep it shaved short, so out of the shower and my hair probably gets as much drying time as the rest of me.

    :D

my hair is about 3 inches long. dont dry it at all. just slap some gel into it and spike it.

what about using moisturiser/stuff to stop bleeding after shaving? is that metrozexual?

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,611 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

I dunno i reckon 'combing' your hair is at least as gay as blow drying it. So the OP and his brother are in trouble here.

Where did you even get the comb from OP? Did you actually go out and buy one?

Back in the day when men were men and homosexuals were purged ruthlessly from society, combs were used.
So how can i possibly be gay?
How did Hitler get his hair that way?
    hitler_fuhrer.jpg
He hated everything not German and straight.

And no I didn't buy one, I found it in the press above and to the right of the computer.

I was under the impression that blow drying was exclusively done by girls before a big night out or something? Never seen or heard of a guy doing it.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,351 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

You don't use moisturiser to stop bleeding so you're not fooling anyone with that one. What you do use is styptic, and it stings like a bástard so you know it's properly manly.

Well the question is directed at the male populace, i could probably think of a few girls only questions if you would like that.

ah now everyone cuts them selves the odd time!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

christ. forget all the metrosexual arguments, using a hair dryer is just far too much effort. you gotta plug it in, lift it up and hold it there for a few mins...

i've longish hair too. cutting is too much effort anyway, sure it all just grows back... i think there is an argument that anyone with short hair is a metro-sexual. it's all far too much effort in one's personal appearence.

Back in the day when men were men and homosexuals were purged ruthlessly from society, combs were used.

exactly, that's how they tracked them down, illicit hair combing clubs were everywhere back then, it was wiped out. I for one amn't happy to see the likes of you trying to bring it back.

Do you comb to the right or to the left? Which pocket do you keep the comb in? Do you have a red bandana in the other back pocket?

Shaved head, so not really anything there to dry :).

I dry the heavy stuff with a towel, let the rest dry naturally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 204 ✭✭daniel3982

I towell dry when I can but since my hair takes 2 hours to dry naturally in emergencies I get the dryer out.... More worryingly I've been known to straighten it with my girlfriends straighteners on occasion
