    Guys and Girls,

I bought a bench there back in Jan from Elverys.
    http://www.gymworld.co.uk/prodpage.asp?ProdID=3057

Seems Elverys dont do it anymore!

Anyway had someone look at it last nite and he was saying that he found it near impossible to use and that my grip on the bar is too wide to be right, problem also is that the bar, due to the curl attachments can only go down to within 1" of my chest.

Now what do you think of this bench. I have an olmpic bar, 6ft (I think!), when I grip the bar my thumbs are about 1" away from the pillars on the bench.

He tried it last nite and he reckons your hands should be on the bar where the pillars are but since you cannot do that they have to be outside.

I don't know to be honest, I dont want to be doing damage to myself by gripping way outside where I should be.

Can you guys tell from looking at the bench if it right at all or are the pillars too near the centre.

Maybe I should remove the curl attachments anyway.

Was thinkin of changing to this even.

    Thanks

I had a google on this and just to explain further

There your mano has his hands, there is a smooth line on the bar outside his baby fingers, well when I grip the bar, my index finger is on this smooth line.

People use various different grip widths, none is really right or wrong, they work different areas to different degrees. If your mate had started and used your bench all the time, and went to his usual one then he would be saying his usual one is "wrong". You could just as understandably claim his bench is "wrong" as you cannot get the grip you prefer.

You could remove the attachments as mentioned.

If you want a decent bench for good money the pm a member called Mickk, he only stocks decent stuff, and it will be cheaper than anywhere else for the same quality.

thanks for that lad, the reason I was lookin at the Argos bench is that I have no one to spot me, so if I do get into "trouble" with the benchpress on my own then with the argos one I can clip it on anywhere
