ive recently purchased a colt 1.3, and in the process of doing it up. got a set of 17's and buying lowering springs on ebay in the next couple of days....

finding various parts for this car is very hard, ie lexus lights etc... not looking for anything to over the top, just some nice accessories.

if anyone has come across some parts on the net or in shops, a few links and numbers would be much appreciated:)

I saw a colt the other day that had been turbocharged, you might want to consider that :)

    wouldn't mind that:D

Colts don't have many aftermarket parts like lexus lights but you can try a few styling companys like FC Autostyling and they can make custom lights for you!

try getting some Japanese Mirage model parts. Also, late Irish spec models came with a decent looking bodykit. Not a fan of Lexus lights myself, but each to their own.

Yeah jap oem parts all the way, i think u may regret the 17`s i would have gone for light weight 15`s, the 17`s will do nothing for the 1.3

I've got 18's and lowered suspension on my FTO, all I can says I'm glad it's not my daily driver! The arches on the Colt are quite small so even with 17's you'll need quite low profile tyres.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

im not too worried about performance with this car! 17's look v well on it, and yes they are low profiles...

the car is some what higher at the front than the rear so gonna drop the front and see what that looks like....

recently installed 4 6x9's, 2 tweeters and a sub and amp so the tunes are fairly pumpin:D

also got some under arch neons which shine down through the wheels onto the ground, which look unreal in my opinion... have yet to see a car with these. they're a real head turner...

as for more mods, im still looking!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭projectgtr

its not just performace its the daily toll its going to take on you and your car, but hey you like them

Sounds like your haveing fun modding, not to my taste but dont mod your car to please others, did you do the work your-self or did you get someone to do it??

    Any pics of the car?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

    having fun alright!

did it myself with a couple of mates..

will get some pics up asap!

heres a pic of my colt...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

a pic of the wheels with the leds...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

Looks pretty good even with the dreaded LEDs!!..I would get a nice backbox on it next, that pea-shooter does nothing for the car!.also think you should have went with 15'' white lightweight alloys! But hey its your car not mine and all the best with it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,528 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

I'd ditch the GL badge, and also look at retro fitting central locking and electric windows (Maplin do kits)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

i have a besecure2000 alarm system and central locking fitted...

was gonna debadge it and take off the back wiper but im presuming it would need spraying under the badge...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,528 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

I think the badge is just stuck on, as long as the paintwork isn't too faded around where the badge was, you should be ok.

17's on a colt , whats the point ?? you might as well drive a civic with a 17 " back box and a stereo that plays teisto over and over and over again :(

@ saxoduff - dont tell him to worsten the car , last thing he needs is a back box bought in argos and a set of omp racing seats...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

    worsten, what does that mean???

17's on a colt, whats wrong with that.. the bigger the better if u ask me...everyone has different tastes. we're not all like you you know...

    halifax boyyy!!

Ah man give him a break,. it just aint your style. It doesnt have to be a back box from argos he could fit some nice OEM JDM goodness under there, when it comes to wheels it looks like me and you are in the same boat 15` light weight racing wheels, function over form.

To be fair, you don't buy a Colt 1.3 for its handling or performance,
Why not try and make it stand out with bigger wheels? I doubt the OP will be racing or anything.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,837 ✭✭✭S.I.R

you cant make it stand out... well if you invest your money better maybe but a cheap set of wheels wont go far... tint the windows limo black a lowwer it slightly... then add silenced bigger exhaust aswell as boring out the air intake manafold... tons of performance , dirt cheap... ;)

im going to order lowering springs on friday (payday!)

im just wondering, if a lower it 40mm all round , will the rear be alot lower than the front, because as it is now, that is the case!

    here's a picture...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,837 ✭✭✭S.I.R

wheels look wrong with the archs.... also lowering a car can ruin the cars handling/feel... hence why most civics noises are in the ground :(

    needs bigger tires

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

lower it 60mm at the front and 40mm at the back, will look even then! ;)

    Why is this??

OP id say after a drop your wheels would look sweet refurbed in white or bronze, any other plans for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,528 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

what state is your suspension in at the moment. car should be fairly level front and back.

I'd recommend T-Cutting the rear spoiler and colour coding the mirrors/door handles too.

    Will look much better lowered.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

im getting a couple of new shocks fitted tomorrow....

if a go 60mm on the front do i need coilovers aswell?

how do u mean t cut the spoiler:confused:

love to do alot more with it but the funds are pretty low.. a few small bits a pieces here and there is the plan... any more ideas anyone??

i want to get new mirrors but i cant find backing plates anywhere...

The paint on your spoiler is oxidised, i.e gone pink, if you use a cutting compund like T Cut to cut back a tiny layer of paint it will go back to red.

If your car is sitting lower than it should be at the back now due to a problem, then if you lower it more at the front to compensate and later on fix the rear, the rear will be sitting too high.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

nice one, where could a pick some of the t cut up? there's a patch on the bonnet and the front right panel gone a bit pink aswell, the same problem im presuming...?

do u reckon theres something wrong with the rear suspension??

    it passed nct...

any motor factors or most big petrol stations that have a car care conner, think its still in the red bottle, just says T-CUT on it.

ignore anyone complaining about what your doing, its your car so do what ever you think improves the car.

there's a one maybe two colts up in Donegal done up like the Mitsubishi Cyborg, look really well. I think the kits were for another car, but they got a bodyshop to cut and fit them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

    that looks savage...

i wonder how much that was lowered?

ive seen a colt around where i live and it has a cyborg kit but its only a 1.3, the same as mine... looks very nice.

want to get the lowering sorted first tho.. im still unsure as to what mm ill go for, and about the rear being lower than the front, because i think that looks terrible...

a nice mod would be the new model Colt badge?

i got some of that t-cut this morning and i applied some to the spoiler.... that stuff is brilliant!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,528 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

it also works on the rest of the car too, follow it with a polish and the car will look brill!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

i t-cutted the whole car over the weekend... also fully waxed and buffed! looks excellent!

got new shocks and getting lowering springs fitted tomorrow...so im guessing i will have pics up by thursday:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Halo

got the pic up at last!

just in the process of finding backing plates for a set of m3 mirrors...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

A performance panel filter and a decat system may free some horses, nothing major though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,066 ✭✭✭fabsoul

Here the best looking kit for the colt, The MIVEC has 170bhp. it a CJ4A

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11 neilae86

thats the ralliart wide arch kit, seriously expensive, but well sexy!
@Halo, have you joined coltuk.org?, a set of clear side indicators and some jap sized plates would look well.
