    Why is prince Michael II older then prince michael I? that doesn't make sense!

    I think Prince Michael must be 13 at this stage? That's about the time you start getting embarrassed of your parents :D

    I was just thinking; how was that freakish rubber-faced no-talent deviant ever permitted to reproduce?

    I thought he was in massive debt or something...

    I'd laugh if he applied for a visa to live here and was denied due to his previous arrest record.

    I'd be rather more worried about the potential problems this might cause for access to the countryside in that area. It's within the Wicklow National Park boundaries, but is still private land with access to some parts currently granted to walkers etc. I'm not entirely sure where the boundaries of the estate are though, so I could be worrying unnecessarily, but 350 acres sounds like a big area to me.

    Is the castle made of ginger bread? I can't think of any other reason why MJ would buy it...

    Besides, isn't he supposed to be nearly bankrupt?

    Off The Wall had some good tunes if you're into disco, Billie Jean had a nice riff, anything since then has been a great stinking pile of pooey gick, IMHO.

    Maybe he'll turn it in to a never land thingy and we'll all get to go on his rollercoasters!

    Yeah most of his stuff since Thriller sucks ass (with the very odd exception) but I suppose it shouldn't be forgotten that he has an amazing voice and is an amazing dancer (well the moves probably aren't so slick now that 50 beckons for him). Between the late '60s and Thriller (1983) he did some remarkable stuff. It's easy to take for granted how mesmerised people were by him back then. This little guy with the voice of an angel - it was like nothing anyone had ever seen before.

    Wow! such ignorance...The man clearly has (or had) talent and there's no denying that, his record speaks for itself. He's still one of the most famous entertainers in the world, granted that the recent fame was for all the wrong reasons, I don't want to pass judgment on that because I simply don't know the facts. Admittedly I was quite a fan of his in my younger days, and was always in awe of his talent, he was simply the finest entertainer of the modern era, mindless comments like above annoy me.

    I think he's quite a confused individual with some of the things he says and does but I just wish people would lay off the man a little. He's had a seriously hard life and I just hope people here in Ireland give him the peace and quiet him and his family deserve, let him get on with whats left of his life, and to make sure his kids are his number one priority, though sometimes I'd question that.

    I know he brings a lot of the attention on himself but it doesn't help when the press are following him looking for some tabloid scandal, I just hope for his sake that people leave him alone and he can salvage some sort of happiness from his miserable fall from grace.

    Talentless? I think the record sales speak for themselves.
    Off The Wall - 20 million.
    Thriller - 100 million.
    Bad - 32 million.
    Dangerous - 30 million.
    HIStory - 18 million.
    Invincible - 8 million.

    I'm certainly glad that Ireland is now home to one of the greatest entertainers the world has ever seen. I can't wait for his new album, when ever it gets finished.

    Popular doesn't equate to talented. Check the rundown of No.1 selling singles anytime for example.

    These days popular equates to best marketed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,062 ✭✭✭cjt156

    BTW 6 albums in 25+ years?
    Hardly prolific either.

    Prince used to bash out an album or 2 a year in the 80's and any one of them held gems that still shine today. ...never could pull off the genuine grown-up man's moustache, though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,844 ✭✭✭✭cormie

    Number of albums does not indicate whether you have talent or not.

    Michael Jackson is talented, it's unquestionable really. Simple as that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,771 ✭✭✭jebuz

    6 albums? where do you get your figures? A quick look on wikipedia...and this is post jackson 5 years...

    * 1971: Got to Be There
    * 1972: Ben
    * 1973: Music and Me
    * 1975: Forever, Michael
    * 1979: Off the Wall
    * 1982: Thriller
    * 1987: Bad
    * 1991: Dangerous
    * 1995: HIStory
    * 1997: Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix
    * 2001: Invincible

    Quality, not quantity, who cares if Prince released an album every 2 years, anyone can release an album, there's 4 or 5 albums there from Jackson that are household names, would you say the same for Prince?
    Popular doesn't equate to talented. Check the rundown of No.1 selling singles anytime for example.
    To get into the charts, there has to be some degree of talent, dont make it sound so easy, everyone in the charts at the very least can sing, thats a talent! Jackson in his day had it all, he was an all round entertainer, he could sing, dance he wrote the lyrics and sometimes even the music for his songs, unlike most modern pop singers.

    Fair opinion, sounds like somebody didn't hug you enough as a child, too much anger.

    No matter what your opinion of the person he is and how he's behaved, how can people honestly say he has no talent?

    Stop it, you're being ignorant... that's ignorant.

    I think talentless is a word people like to throw about as an insult... these people need to watch the likes of You're a star for a more accurate impression of talentless.
    He may be a freak with some serious issues, but I couldn't beat him in a dance-off. :eek:

    Talent ? No talent ? It's all a matter of opinion.

    No it's not, Michael Jackson is talented, end of:

    tal·ent /ˈtælənt

    –noun
    1. a special natural ability or aptitude: a talent for drawing.
    2. a capacity for achievement or success; ability: young men of talent.

    There's no denying he's talented, it's fact, whether that talent appeals to you is a matter of opinion. ;):)

    I am actually in a state of disbelief that there are people in this thread stating that Michael Jackson has no talent. I'm sorry, but making a statement like that is on par with denying that the world is round.

    I always liked this deposition for showcasing the man's talent both vocally and in composing and producing his own songs. There's no doubt in anyone's mind that he's one of the most talented dancers that the music world has ever known.

    Exactly what I said 6 albums in 25+ years, thanks for confirming my guess.

    I speak comparatively; what I consider talent is someone like Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Jagger & Richards; people who wrote, played & performed. Doing yer silly white-socks-slide-across-the-floor-dance leaves me cold. There are thousands of kids on the streets or Harlem who could match that.

    I'm not exactly what you'd call a fan but he does have talent. His earlier albums were pretty good and he has some cracking songs.

    While many people in Harlem could do it (or anywhere at this stage) he was the first to do it on the big stage.

    His personal life has nothing to do with his talent. As I've pointed out, definition #2 of the word talent is:

    "2. a capacity for achievement or success; ability: young men of talent."

    Now I think it's safe to say Michael Jackson has been very successful so it's therefore FACT he's talented;)

    cjt156, are you saying the kids of Harlem aren't talented either so?

    Why don't you take a look at the credits on one of his albums. Michael Jackson has written and produced the majority of his own music. Most of his biggest hits were his own songs. You clearly underestimate Michael Jackson, since there's a lot more to his act than just "Doing yer silly white-socks-slide-across-the-floor-dance". Aside from being one of the best dancers in the world, he's one of the better male vocalists the music industry has seen.

    Whether you like to admit it or not, Michael Jackson not only has talent, but he was a pioneer and the man is a genius.

    Anyone can come out of a studio sounding good. Try it on stage, I've seen (and heard, unfortunately) him live (Parc Ui Caoimh 198?) and believe me, it was disasterous.
