Okay, I'm really confused.

I'm confused over a few things. But the main reason that I'm confused is because I can't seem to lose weight. Back 3 years ago, no matter what I ate, I didn't gain any weight whatsoever. Now, if I eat anything, I seem to gain more and more weight. I used to be really small, but now I'm overweight (not obese though). No matter how much I exercise, I don't lose any weight. It just doesn't make any sense how people who are overweight like me, and exercise as much as I do, lose weight like it's nobody's business.

Anybody have any tips? Don't suggest anything like "eat more salad", because I hate salad.

You could have an under active thyroid, get tested. Hating salad will hardly help either. If you're not burning more than you're eating, you'll gain weight so you should assess your diet/exercise. You'd probably get a better response in the fitness forum by the way:)

Have you read through the stickies? AFAIK, there's no way you won't lose weight whilst running a minor calorific defecit eating healthy foods at the right times and exercising.

Post your (honest) average daily diet and your current exercise program. My money's on your diet being a lot poorer than you think.

I experienced something like that a couple of years ago, the problem was a mixture of things really, i had just come of a rather large calorie deficit and started eating normally and then put on weight, tried to cut the calories again and up the excercise but it just wouldnt take, the weight wouldnt move at all. Now that i have educated myself about good diet and excercise i get why it wasnt working.

My idea of a healthy diet and a good eating plan was crap, nothing i did was sustainable.

I increased my food intake by eating a crap load more vegetables on a daily basis and introduced stuff like porridge etc, i didnt lose weight but i stopped gaining weight.

Now this is probably a bit of a long winded way of saying it, you need to take the time to educate yourself on diet and build up eating good habits. Keep a food diary for at least 2 weeks, alot of times when people think they are not eating loads there are hidden calories in their diet. Read the stickies too lose of good info there.

A few months ago i started to look at getting the weight down again, having kept it consistent for about 2 years. So i read and educated myself more on excercise and diet, the changes that i had made before where adequate to maintain my weight just not enough to lose any weight. I had a bit of success with a plan similar to this, which may be of interest to you.

What age/sex/height are you? how many calories do you eat in a day? how many meals per day? what sort of food.

If you are just out of your teens then your metabolism might have dropped a bit.

You need to be careful if you're trying to skip meals etc your body will go into starvation mode and lay down pretty much everything you eat as fat. Sounds to me like your motabolism slowed down tho are you in your late teens or early twenties? Altho I think that it can occur even later in men.

Eat a non-sugary cereal for breakfast with skim milk, such as shredded wheat, porridge or muesli. Alternatively have boiled/poached eggs with wholewheat toast. Have a piece of fruit as well.

For lunch and dinner eat lean meat with lots and lots of vegetables, and have small portions of potatoes or brown rice or wholewheat pasta. Pitta and wraps are good breads when you're watching your weight.

For snacks eat small portions of nuts (uncooked varieties), pots of low fat yoghurt, fruit and raw veg. Don't go hungry.

Avoid all junk food like crisps, chocolate etc.

Excercise hard for 30 mins 3-4 times a week.

Weigh yourself once a week at the same time. You will see weight loss. If there are no changes after one month, go see your doctor.

A healthy steady weight-loss by the way is very slow, 1 - 1.5lb per week. Also you're in the wrong forum - go to Fitness. :)

By any chance were you drinking when you were small? and are you drinking now? A night in a pub followed by a plate of grease has so many calories its not even funny.

dude - your metabloism may have slowed down in 3 years. The calories juts arn't being burnt like they used too. It happens with age.

your diet may need an overhaul - what didn't bother you then may be putting on weight now.
I was heavy for years but i was training MA 3/4 times a year. only by adjusting my diet did i shed the weight.
Maybe you are eating the right food but too much of it.
Eat the stickies and eat more salad.
Liking something at the beginning is irrelevant - the more salad you eatthe more you'll adjust to it and end up liking it.
but there are alternatives to salad.
also I feel (IMO) beers more than once a week will heap on the weight.
