Difference in Bars (lifting not drinking)

Was looking to buy a bar for the homestead, and as we're tight on space I was looking at the smaller curl bar, purely because it'll fit at the end of my bed.

Will I get the same results from this as compared to the normal 6' or 7' straight bar with regards to Squats, Deadlifts and Shoulder Presses? I don't intend on getting a bench (space limited again) so bench pressing wouldn't be an issue anyway.

    Thanks

They are good. You sound like myself, not that serious into it, i.e. not going to be lifting huge weights and investing a lot. I had the 20kg dumbell kit. I then got the hollow york ezcurl bar & tricep bar in argos, it is €20 for the 2.

If I was starting again I would get this set

that is a 5ft straight solid bar.

But I probably would get the hollow set down the line, I much prefer the ezcurl bar for tricep, curls, military press and squats. The design makes it easy to centre it, and for curls it is easier on the wrists, it curves over your back for squats. Deadlifts can be hard though, on one hand you can rotate it so the bar is a little higher than normal, but it restricts you hands width wise, I prefer deadlifts on a straight bar.

I since got a 6ft solid bar and cannot do squats with it, I have no rack so can only get what I can press over my head, so I am stuck at 60kg, but I cannot even get 55kg over my head with the long bar. The 6ft bar also takes up too much room. I would be willing to swap it for a 5ft bar and the difference in weight in plates or cash, if somebody has that york 5ft and wants to go to 6ft let me know.
