The god damn greatest footballing tournament in the world starts again on tuesday with the group stages imo the best stages.... the best players in the world going to away games looking for 3 points you dont see better football in any league/world cup/ anywhere else in the world.

I going with the conservative Home for all that are at home. Only dodgy ones are Pool and Real, Porto are good but pool very good and real have a weird group stage thing with german teams.

Don't care too much tbh (until kick off naturalment!). Liverpool to win by one goal with first "CL 11" playing.

    It won't happen, imo.

But yeah, you're right, best football tournament by a country mile.

    I love the CL.

What's the story with tv rights this season?

Please tell me RTE or TV3 are showing Arsenal Sevilla and not Lisbon Man U!

I don't have Sky and I don't have Setanta and I don't want to be stuck in a pub watching another boring Man Utd performance away from home in Europe.

www.itv.com are streaming the Chelsea game. Not sure if you'll need to go through a UK proxy to view it though.

So you can theoretically watch both matches at once.

I can see Chelsea slipping up tonight. Another match without Lampard and Drogba = more points dropped. Chelsea are a class outfit but really suffer whenever any of their big 3 (Terry, Lampard & Drogba) are missing.

Id blame Reina there. Hyypia was done for pace but it was out near the edge of the box, no need for Reina to be out that far challenging.

Why the hell are setanta broadcasting the Celtic game in 4:3?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,983 ✭✭✭leninbenjamin

50 - 50 really, Hyypia should never have let whathisnamethePortoguy get in behind him like that, his pace is getting worse every time i see him, which is a pity.

I think Celtic getting beated was a bit of a foregone conclusion. What is it, 12 defeats and and draw away in the CL before tonight?

    Its 2 now

Real 1-1 in a matter of seconds from each other, decent game Bremen understrenght and Real just look like scoring any time.

Something like that yeah, but considering the result they got in Moscow i thought they might get something.
But so far they have looked completely shellshocked.

surprise scorline at stamford bridge so far eh?

Diego for bremen is just deadly, real building up to a raping but everytime Diego gets on the ball he just dances past players.

Anyone elses goalflash having issues? didnt see ACs 2 goals pop up

I just realised tonight that Sky just cut the top and bottom off the picture so you don't actually get the full picture with Sky.

Anyway, after the abysmal start Celtic have played quite well in the last 25 minutes. Donati and McDonald have been excellent. Naka and Jan doing well supporting. Brown and Hartley staying back. The formation they're playing now is what Strachan probably should have started with but that's all well and good in hindsight. He's great at fixing things throughout the game.

Shakhtar for the first 20 minutes were as good as the likes of Barca, no doubt about it. The football they played was unreal. It's no surprise to Celtic fans though after the last time.

The defence is still a mess and can't be fixed without new players.

not usually, they are probably just getting a feed off a station with old technology. i've noticed that kind of thing happens a lot when your watching matches from all over the place. one will crop, the other will send as is.

In professional football thats called letting the team thats losing have the ball.

Not really. You don't automatically look impressive when you have the ball, especially Celtic away from home.

You do when you have the ball because they letting you have it, generally what happens Shak will start playing again around the 70th minute or so and get a 3rd if they want too.

Real clueless now All bremen, All Diego!!!!

If Bremen had a full team out i would expect a win for them :O Which means the front 2 are ****e and everytime Diego puts it on a plate for them they fluff it.

Thats a stupid sending off. WHy no yellow for the guy faking injury? Pennant shouldnt have lunged at it though.

I really hate the way you can tackle off the ball ( the guy obstructed him and happens in nearly every match) as lo0ng as your a defender running the ball out of play.

Reina is making some well dodgey decisions tonight. He needs to just keep saying to himself "stay on your line" ad not try involve himself where he has no business being.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

What an idiotic challenge. The ball is running out and in a hopeless attempt to get it Jermaine Pennant takes a lump out of Fucile's calf. A second yellow, an early bath and a glare from Rafael Benitez.

    BBCs take on it

    Stupid goalflash isnt working!!!!!

    kdjac

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

+Taking a lump is a bit much, I'd say the guy did more damage rollign around holding his shin.

This hoofing sht is pissing me off something awfull. Gerrard has the ball 10 yards inside his own half with a player closeing slowly enough from about 10 yards and he just lifts it 40 yards up the pitch not even remotely near a Liverpool player. What the ****k goes through a players head that makes him think thats a good thing to do. All he had to do was lay it off to one of the 3 defenders standing 10 - 20 yards away instead of loseing it.

Never said he didnt, but theres no need for the guy to be diving and rolling around to make sure he gets sent off.

As I said my main gripe is the way off the ball challanges are allowed as long as your the defender shepherding the ball out. Your shouldnt be deemed in control of the ball until you touch it and make it yours. Then you are free to defend the ball.

Dunno, thought he played quite well in the first half. Couldn't pass the ball in the 2nd half. He must be human. :D First time we've seen that kind of misplace passing since the first half of Dundee Utd v Celtic where he got a hattrick. ;)

I think a certain Mr Brown was lucky he stayed on the pitch long enough to get substituted also...couple that with the goal shaktar got chopped off it could have been an Artmedia style night for celtic i reckon.

As i said before, makes me all the more nervous about tommorrow really!
