There was one posted here before of a car with about 6 pictures - 5 of them were of the car and one was of a lass bent over with the thong showing - obviously uploaded the wrong filename - cos it wasnt long before it was changed
Also - if something is spotted like this - make sure to take a screen shot, because if you post a link and it gets changed, people dont get the laugh out of it ;)

According to Cartell, it doesn't even have a 3 litre engine, it only has a 2 litre!

That interior looks like it has a lot more than 72000 miles on it too!

AFAIK M3 is 3.5l - best way to tell a real one is the wing mirrors. M3's have 2 "wings" between the mirror and the door. This one is a "3M" whish is probably a 2l V6 with the M upgrade kit. Wouldn't touch her with yours.

The E36 M3 is either 3.0 or 3.2. And the sixes are straight, not vee.

Wing mirrors are so easy to forge - probably one of the 1st upgrades to make, so not the best way to find a real one. One of the best way to tell is a look at the tax disc. E36 never came in a V6. In fact, dont think there are any V6 Beemers.

I'll bow out here and admit I don't know. My mate in Bristol had an m3 and had the wing mirrors robbed twice!! -apart from that, the car itself wasn't touched.
I drove it (the M3) from Naas to Dublin and - I'm sorry - I thought it was shyte.

maybe it was a badged up 316i ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Probably wasnt an M3 then in that case!!!

And if you are saying it is sh!te - what are you comparing it to, that you have driven, that you thought was a great car???

I was told a sure way of tellin a genuine M3 was to check for the black headcloth and pillars.

Since when is this an M-Sport. Someone telling porkies.

M-Sport is usually referring to M-Tech styling &/or suspension not M3

That was one of the funniest posts I've read on here in ages...especially since the car in question has the M3 mirrors on it.

You would not believe how many 5 series are being advertised as M-Tec when they're not - looking for one myself, and it's very annoying.

nevr mind the messers the amount of idiots who totally mis advertise their car as "estate" or "convertible" when they are not drives me nuts, auto and man is another as is diesel/ petrol.

You almost have to go through every possibility just in case the car your after is wrongly listed.

if its a Jap car then its in KMs which is about 45K miles?
id guess they would say that the wrong milage was entered on the add and it was a clerical error if it was reported....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,809 ✭✭✭✭smash

it's only an ad.. they haven't actually clocked a car.... yet

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,559 ✭✭✭Tipsy Mac

Such is the law in this country it wouldn't be a crime unless the seller told the buyer the miles were genuine.

Sometimes a garage will use photos of a car currently in stock or sold for a different car that's not in yet. eg. if this garage dealt a lot in jappers they could have loads of Altezzas going through the place. That one advertised could be a week away so they'll advertise it using photos of an identical car. Or someone could have said "there's around 40k on it" meaning kilometers, and whoever put it up could have taken it to be miles.

Not all used car dealers are "Scumbags" trying to con everyone out of their money.

Of course not. To be serious, I never could understand why people buy from back-street outfits.

Take a closer look at the picture, its 7258. Which suggests to me that its the trip, not the mileage.

    ?

Trip doesn't have to be reset every time the car is filled. You can set it any time, for any duration (usually up to 9999 Miles or KMs)

I spotted that one myself the other day! The plonker! Its also categorized as an "S3" rather than "A3" in the carzone search tool, so he's totally excluded people who are searching the site for A3's! I can only imagine its hard enough to sell that particular car as it is, with its 3.2 cc engine, without making a mess of the ad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,323 ✭✭✭MarkN

I would hazard a guess Joe and say it's the only one in the country cause nobody else would be stupid enough to buy one in the first place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,470 ✭✭✭JoeA3

there surely can't be much of a 2nd hand market for a 3.2 V6 A3 alright... at least the Golf R32 (with same engine) has the look and branding to go with it... that A3 looks like any other 1.6 A3.

    What about this one
    http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=845178

If the seller has taken a deposit, is it not a bit rich to invite other buyers?
If I had left a deposit and the seller altered the ad like this it would piss me off no end...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 986 ✭✭✭Typhoon.

Ah thats cheeky..if the deposit was put down ya'd think he'd give em a break...might be an unscrupulious seller....i'd give that car a good look over if i was the people that gave that deposit
