    So,

After last year's somewhat successful attempt to get a weekly TCD Boards football game going, who'd be up for a game in Freshers' Week? Freshers particularly welcome.

It'd be with an eye to getting it going once a week.

Good to hear it, Pugwash. Think you could get a couple of lads (e.g. Rory) to come?

Dan, probably astroturf is best but maybe the indoor hall.

I'll ask him and darragh and a few others. just so happens a few of us will be in living in the gmb next year so im sure i could twist their collective arms. I know some engineers who'd be up for a game too.

Off Topic: I do not know which would be worse.
    1) Crash making sweet, sweet love with my mother
    2) Crash making terrible, awkward love with my mother

Sometime during Freshers' Week. I intentionally left a date out so we could see when's the best for everyone.

    So far we have:

    Ibid
    Pugwash
    Boston
    dan719
    sd123
    Crash
    the flananator
    Marshy
    Nehpets
    JC 2K3
    ilovemybrick? (played last year)
    zaraba? (played last year)
    pugwash's friends?

So even if a couple of people pull out, which always happens, we should have at least four-on-four which is good enough for a game.

When do people want it? I imagine the freshers and any society-involved people will be too busy on Monday and Tuesday (busiest days of the week) so maybe Wednesday or Thursday?

I'd like to put down two mates, one is definite and the other will confirm within 24 hours. So

    Ibid
    Pugwash
    Boston
    Boston's mate #1
    Boston's mate #2
    dan719
    sd123
    Crash
    the flananator
    Marshy
    Nehpets
    JC 2K3

    12 in total

Do you strictly have to be a member of boards?

Teams dome out at random- or how about freshers against the rest?

    Of course not.

And we'll sort the teams on the day. We have more than enough guys interested so how about we leave this lie for a while and bump it in a couple of weeks?

Barring a clash with the Ultimate Frisbee display game I'm in. On which note, Frisbeeface may well be up for it as well...

In Crete so net access a bit iffy..

I'm up for it - its a way of showing off my new real tan!

Also - anyone up for winter tag rugby? I know that there are a couple of winter leagues around..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,163 ✭✭✭✭Boston

    Both mates confirmed.

That post was just a carefully crafted way of telling us all you're in Crete and have a good tan.

Added with your fantastic hair, you've got me feeling mighty jealous.

Won't the freshers have to be resgistered to use the sports hall? So later in the week it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭Barry Aldwell

Depending on me not being busy with something else, I may well show up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Ian: i'd be well up for a bit of tag. I am an awful, AWFUL player though.

I used to play full contact, so i'd definitely be up for a bit of tag especially seeing that I'm useless at soccer. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,597 ✭✭✭dan719

I still play full contact but tag- well it will be funny anyway.:o

Tag is great craic.. if we got 10 people or so we could have a couple of matches.. or look at joining a winter league..

anything that'll get me into better shape will do fine - planning on getting into shape / putting on some weight over the year and looking for a j3/j4 team to join next year.

as in when rugby season kicks off next year - i.e. teams back training now-ish.

Right, Freshers' Week is next week so we can talk about in a sligtly more definite context now.

Who'd be up for a game on the astroturf pitches on Thursday afternoon? It would be a 40 minute game.

Also, who is interested in getting this on a weekly basis? If you are, could you post your timetables please? That way we get to see the most desirable slot. Unless things have changed since last year, we can bulk book a slot on the first day of term and only then. So now is a good time to get organising.

I'm attaching an Excel file for people edit their timetables into. Open the file, add your timetable beside your name, save and attach to your post. This way we can keep an easy track of what times people are and are not available at. If it's not precise it doesn't matter, this is just to get an idea of where we're at for a weekly game.

    Wed (09.00 - 14.30) (16.30 - 1800)
    Thursday (before 11.30) or (15.30 - 18.00)
    Friday morning (09.00 - 14.30)

May play on Thursday, time dependent - frisbee match also thursday afternoon, plus work from 4. Busy day!

Will post timetable early next week when I've seen if there's another business tutorial I can change into from Thursday evenings (to avoid work clashes. Stupid work)

Although I like my inclusion in central midfield, too. Shows my versatility.
