Do 15mins breaks in cardio have negative effects?

I am trying to get cardio in on an empty stomach in the mornings to get rid of the last of my fat.

I cycle to work that takes about 20mins, so I changed route to bump it up to 45mins. But I am wondering could I do 25mins cardio at home, then stop & get a shower & dress, and do 20mins more on the bike, after the 15min break.

Would this disrupt any "fat burning mechanism" or otherwise have a disadvantage?

I think you keep burning for about an hour no?

could be wrong here but if your doing cardio for such little amount of time i dont think youll be burning fatat all, youll just be burning up your energy reserves, im sure the other lads here will put ya right soon!

oh an i dont think whether your stomach has food in it or not would make any difference(bar getting a stitch) as when your doing cardio your body wouldnt take anything from your stomach but would draw energy from your reserves

I have heard 20mins is not really enough, thats why I am increasing it, but I am just wondering if 25min, 15break, 20min, is the same as 45min non stop, or what it would roughly be equivalent to if the break does make a difference, i.e. it might be like 40min non stop.

I have heard after 60mins there are diminishing returns, I will probably work up to 60mins over the next month or so. I am also doing a 15-20min return journey later on.

The idea in the morning is you are very low on energy reserves, your muscles are low on glycogen and there is little glucose in your system. In this case you are fuelling yourself with fat more. If you eat breakfast 1 hour before then you would be full of glycogen and the first 20mins would be burning reserves and then moreso onto fat.

Many recommend eating 20-40mins before a weights workout, the idea that your muscles will be full of glycogen and you have lots of energy for the workout. I think the moment you eat some foods your insulin will go up and low insulin is meant to favour fat loss. I was asking in another thread if eating and going straight out for 20mins is equivalent to an emtpy stomach, but towards the end you will have started digesting the food properly. Also I want to go for longer than 20mins.

yeah ya make a few good points there alright, although the 15 min break thing just doesnt seem right, surely it couldnt be the same as doin a straight 40 mins or so...
