About the only good news for us today is that the Georgians are playing on tomorrow which gives us an extra 2 days of rest.

Hopefully the Argies will soften them up a bit and take some of the sting out of them up front. Before yesterday I'd have said this wasn't really necessary but after the match I think we need every little thing going our way.

Argentina seem to be taking it pretty seriously though playing a full-strength side. Also good for us in that it should tire Argentina a small bit but overall not much since we will be playing our full team next weekend as well to make up for that horrendous performance last night

In fairness Dave, he's made 6 changes.

2 new props, 1 lock, 1 backrow, 1 centre, and wing replacements, granted there's not 'massive' drop in quality, especially in the forwards.

Can anyone in the know tell me what kind of impact they expect the Georgians to make.

So far we've seen some extremly tough opening displays from the so called 'lesser' teams.

Will Argentina be tired. Are Georgia big enough to really get at them?
Is a bonus point victory a given?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,772 ✭✭✭jameshayes

They will get a bonus point... My prediction would be a win of 65+

The argies are very strong and they should be able to handle the georgians easy enough..

I think the Georgians will put up a good fight.

Sure the Argies will win but they will be keen to come out injury free as well. Some of those Georgian guys will take no prisoners.

Georgians will want to make an impact just as much as Namibia did last night.

Was Contemponi no. 2 not an injury doubt (rather than a tactical switch)

They have a very big pack hence why the Pumas have changed their two props because it will be a titanic battle between the two packs.

I say the Pumas will put 40 points on them and switch go wide and garryowens

don't think they will rack up a huge number of points. don't think they have the killer edge to keep on scoring even when miles ahead that NZ/AUS have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,644 ✭✭✭✭nesf

I think it will be very interesting, Argentina (to me) seemed to be playing the game that maximised their chances of winning rather than the game that maximised their score versus France if you know what I mean.

How they'll play tonight should be fairly different and we should get a better look at their backs. Ignacio Corleto should do a lot of damage imho.

No Idea, he was named by the boss on Sunday for the clash. No mention of his late withdrawal.

Wonder is he injured, no mention of it and I missed the start.

Argentina aren't looking great, Georgia are hugely impressive so far.

That Georgia kept them out there...

Georgia is doing so well in their final 10 to stop the Pumas from touching down.

    Great Defence.

They could hold them to a draw for the first half. Crazy. :)

Savage defence, would Argentina not consider dropping a few garyowens down to the Georgian 22 ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44 Easy_81

    Cheap penalty.

    Pumas finally in front!

    I'm expecting argentina to win...

but can georgia hold Argentina to under 4 tries...that would be great for ireland and its looking very possible now

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 44 Easy_81

Some of the officiating in tournament so far has been questionable.

    Guess we expect it nowadays..

    Allez le rouge!!

Pichot minor knock was announced yesterday just a precaution not playing him. Nice one for my fantasy league too as a few people ahead of me picked him. I took a chance by having only 3 argies tonight and instead having a few fijians and the jap full back. I have to close the gap somehow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Hugely impressive set move from Argentina, this is a great contest so far.

While you'd expect Argentina to win, there won't be much in it - 4 tries looks a little way off.

I have nothing but respect for this Georgian team their defence has been incredible so far and they are putting in some huge hits.

It's a shame they don't have anyone in the backline because I reckon their forwards will tire soon, hope I'm wrong but I doubt any pack could keep up that intensity for the 80mins

Let's just hope that Georgia can maintain their defence to rob Argentina of the bonus point. If they can avoid gassing after 60 minutes like some of the other minnows then they might be able to keep this tight and possibly even take it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,534 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Only 6 - 3 to Argentina at the break. Argentina will probably pull away in the second half, though.

Pity their scrum is a little weak :(

These Georgians are tough... the Argies are bleeding.

    Argie try

Hope the Georgians can keep them to less than 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

Yachvilli is an awful player. That try is attributable to him for

1/ Terrible positioning from the 22 drop out, no excuse for allowing it over your head

2/ An awful kick to touch.

I feel sorry for the Georgie pack. They deserve better than him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,367 ✭✭✭Agamemnon

Damn, let's hope the Georgians keep their heads up and don't let the floodgates open.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,987 ✭✭✭✭zAbbo

Georgian half backs are pretty poor alright.
