Still, you have 20 odd days before you get to 6! Plenty of time to get below 5.5!

If you went to 5.5 on or after 1st September then your playing handicap is 5 until such time as 1st October - where if you are still 5.5 or higher you go to 6.

    Have you looked at Golfnet??

    Who e-mailed you??

last round was about 2 weeks ago now...68 gross (65 nett)...par 68 unfortunately!!

I was 5.5 at the turn of the month. Went down 0.1 last week, then back up again yesterday.

I just presumed the changes would take effect straight away. That's the way it was in Scotland. Maybe different now that it's all electronic?!

You're right though, plenty of time to get back down. 3 or 4 comps left this month.

Ok so on 1st Sept you were 5.5 playing 6. Then went down 0.1 meaning you play off 5, then up yesterday to 5.5 playing off 5 still.

Actually - if you played off 6 yesterday you should DQ yourself from the competition.

Why Not? Is that not the very nature of boards ? To post or not to post, that is the question ! Do you play golf ? Any body i know who plays and discusses golf always wants to know how each other are playing..first topic of conversation.

And if no one started posts Boards would be pretty boring ....and die

Hang in there graeme just a few more putts to drop. Whats the latest on your putting??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭Mister Sifter

The putting has been getting a little better Golf Ninja. I bought the Bob Rotella book and had a good read of that and it has made a difference. I've been using that practice putting routing (3 balls from 3 feet, then 6 feet and 10ft) and that too is excellent.

That said, i had a few problems at the weekend. I had 37 putts on Sunday and ended up 7 over par. Three 3 putts in there from no more 20 feet. The greens had been cord and were pretty ropey though so that maybe explains that.

A winter of working on my putting and on my wedges from 50 yards in awaits i think!

Dublin City - gross 89 gave me 30points playing off 14. Had 8 three-putts and 42 putts in total. :o Worst day on the greens ever..possibly. :o:o

Practice round today in Gowran Park, Kilkenny, par 71 sss 72 from the back markers
2 under 69 gross, 66 nett, playing off 3 which is my lowest ever round. Sank a 35 footer on the last for birdie and to break 70 which I was damn pleased about...
Senior Scratch Cup is on there next Sunday.... what I wouldn't give for the same again ;)

    88gross nett 69 last sat. plaiying off 18.6 atm. had 2 6's 2 7's and an 8 on the 18th.

not cut standard scratch down to 69. :(

I got 35 points yesterday in Grange Castle. 13 on the front 9, 22 on the back. I dont have a strokeplay score, scratched 3 holes on the front 9 (I'm a bad starter). I don't have a handicap, but I usually just assign myself 22 as I usually shoot around 95.

Played 12 hole burrow course in Rosslare. Had 28 points..........guess my handicap will start coming down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,885 ✭✭✭madds

28 pts in Carlow yesterday :o

My first time to play it, and what a course. 2 birdies, 6 pars, too many scratches. Lost 3 balls, all off the tee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 652 ✭✭✭stringy

80 gross, 71 nett cut to 8.6, need one more good round to make 8 for the winter, think reaching 7 is not likely at this stage but you never know.

Won class 1 prize too so that was nice, making a late surge up the table for "golfer of the year", especially with club champ final in fourball next week

feel like clapping myself on the back :) - won overall yesteday in V par comp and cut 1.2, yippee, now off 16. See my previous posts about new irons, I think they are working.

Played the portmarnock links got an invite from a friend hit the ball really well but it was very hard to gage the distance i was hitting the ball i would say about 15 yards further than normal. Shot 39 points was happy with that given that i am working on something new. Funny my pro said i might end up hitting through some greens. He was right i have to say i have never hit the ball better.

Was in Royal Tara yesterday played off the yellow twice.
Scored 17 which i'm disappointed with didn't score on 7 holes. However was only my 3rd ever round so not devestated.

Best shot -On the 3rd par 3
Hit to within 10 feet of hole - sunk it!:D

Worst hole - On the 3rd Par 3
Hit 2 out of bounds off the tee before the above  took 6

Totally lost concentration on the back nine. Unsure as to why. recovered slightly but was too late.

Was beaten off the park by mate he done the back nine with a score of 17 and a total of 27.

Played Moyvalley last week and finished par, par, par to give myself 38 points.

Super place - great finishing hole.

18th: 570 yards par 5, I hit a driver, three wood and another three wood to 12ft and missed the birdie putt!

Playing the O'Meara course in Carton this morning so will post my score later. If I have a shocker, one thing I can't blame is the weather. It's a beautiful October morning out there.

Last round for me was very frustrating in some ways... in a monthly medal, course in perfect order, greens quite fast.... started by 3-putting the first 2 greens for bogey, then pars on the next 10 holes, One partner had to leave after 11 holes and the other guy in our three-ball injured his wrist on the 12th tee so I ended up playing the back 7 with just my injured mate walking with me... lots of waiting around... stupid treble bogey on par 3 13th hole, 4 more pars and then a nonchalant bogey on the last because I thought all was lost and I was going to get .1 back anyway.... just couldn't get the ball in the hole all day.
Ended up coming 3rd and getting cut from 3.6 to 3.4 somehow (was playing off 3 all month anyway). 6 more points in the GOTY and should have that sown up which is nice ;)
Round before that was the semi final of the club matchplay, giving 18 shots away!!!! and to a guy that got 6 pars in the first 11 holes, but kept in there and I won on the 17th

Disappointing week last week... 31 points in the open round Hollywood Lakes, then 31 around Navan, also in an open. First time playing both so wasn't too unhappy. Shot 3 over and scored 39 points around Hollystown last saturday, then was 2 under par through 12 holes in my club medal last sunday when it got called off due to the rain.

Busy week of golf as i was off for the week!

    first game in 2 weeks

    club fourball

    13 pars, 1 birdie, 2 bogeys, 2 scratches, h/cap 8

delighted, pars on 9 out of first 10 holes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,225 ✭✭✭JCDUB

Played club 4 ball matchplay final on Saturday, played absolute shyte

Contributed to one halfed hole, my partner did everything else and got us to the 20th, where I held a 50 footer for the win

He was delighted, I was in shock. Then again I carried him for three of the previous four rounds, so fair is fair :D

We beat the two biggest bandits in the club aswell, so that was enjoyable, especially cos one of them is a mean spirited, ignorant prick.

Just back from paying 5 rounds in a week in Portugal on Friday, very mixed bag, ranging from 15pts:eek:  in Troia to 36pts in Estoril. Not playing now for a couple of weeks, thank fook!!
