Yup same thing but I assume its just that the government fees have yet to come through. Just paid the 863 when prompted, didnt go near the 5000 business.
Im just waiting to see - should be sorted out by the time we go back (I hope)

Have you followed the instructions fully? I just went along the process as described on the help page and I was grand - it prompted me to pay after choosing modules etc..
I am in second year, might be different for first though.
Not sure about the postgrad business

yeh followed the instructions, ill just wait and see if they email me tomorrow if not ill ring them thanx for the help though :)

I'm having problems as well. It seems to think I owe them €12,000, which is probably down to being born in a non-EU country, despite being having an EU passport etc etc etc.

I think I might be having a little trip into DCU to 'sort it all out'.

The system is a disaster, I'm sure theyre aware of its shortcomings and will fix you right up, albeit slowly and without politeness!

I had exactly the same problem yesterday when registering for a postgrad course. It told me I owed 1500 when it should have been about 650. I rang the fees office and the girl was very helpful - apparently the system calculates something incorrectly (sorry I can't give more detail, my mind drifts when people start talking numbers) but anyway, she checked on her end and told me just to pay the 650 and that would be fine. If you give them a call they will probably explain it to you.

how is it stopping you? are you trying to pay by credit/laser card or with a giro. I was able to change the amount in the box that siad "amount being paid"... anytime I've rung finance they just siad "yes, we know about it, just pay the amount you should be paying..."

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 50 ✭✭dcugirl18

ya it wouldnt let me change it yesterday but it did today so just put in the right amount!!thanx for the help every1 :)

The system's a disaster. Registered yesterday but it wouldn't accept my compulsory modules. Said i had too many credits. Reason for that is my course is 12 months not two semesters. Contacted them today and they said they're on to it. And it doesn't seem to record the amount of fees you've paid in total. They'd no record of me paying 1000e deposit for example

I have been trying to register for a post-grad and it won't allow me to choose the optional modules. Not that I haven't been around the block enough times to know it wouldn't go off without a hitch.

Your problem is probably similar to mine. I'm doing a post gard as well. I emailed them and they fixed it quick enough. I'm registered now

I spoke to them and they couldn't see a problem so I tried on another PC elsewhere and it worked so the problem was my own it seems! I thought when I had broadband I'd have no such problems.:o

I typed in the 863 but don't know if it went through. How do I get confirmation of registration?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

Its Fúcking shíte! I clicked to join the fúcking bar and now it says I didn't!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

I did it a second time and typed in 13 for the City centre club membership.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 47 curlysue18

I typed in 876 - for the registration fee plus the city centre club thing. then i printed the page off that said 'success' and gave transaction reference etc. but its now saying that i still owe over 4000 euro anyone else havin this same problem???
    its so confusing:mad:

Also its saying that i didnt join the club thing now even though i paid for it grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,081 ✭✭✭LeixlipRed

I'd imagine you paid twice then as the 13 euro was included in my fees yet it said i hadn't paid it

Am I the only person who got no info about registration?

    ok, a few things...

    1. ignore everything that it says on the process status page, many stages will never change from N to Y (such as the payment and the bar for example). it is bollocks, ignore it.

    2. there's currently an error where the fee for the qualification being paid for the government is showing up (usually in the area of five grand). it's a humongous **** up, we know about it, working to fix it... for the meantime, ignore it,

    3. if possible pay the correct amount (863 or 876 as the case may be) and print off the page with order confirmation. this is the only confirmation you will receive. navigate away from that page and it's gone, no coming back. the only other confirmation is the e-mail sent with your module choices, but that only shows you completed up until the subject part of registration.

    4. the registration packs were sent on monday, if you have not received one tomorrow then call the registry (01 700 5338). if you accepted a late offer (later than last friday, when the first batch was printed) then your pack will be sent tomorrow. (no opinionated, you are not the only one.)

    that is all.

    O_o you haven't received a pack tomorrow ?

on the other hand, feel free to call, but they'll just take your name, CAO/student number and your address and make sure the pack was sent...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 50 ✭✭dcugirl18

after you input your credit card details (assuming you used a credit or laser card) and hit proceed, then it either said error, or success and in both cases it gives you an order number and some other stuff... there's a button for a print friendly version.

    wait, it looked like this:

    Student Number: ********
    Name: David McMullin
    Success

Here are the details of your transaction:
    Order number: ****
    Result Code: **
    Message: AUTH CODE ******
    Batch ID:
    Transaction Reference: **************

    No you are fine.

Just go back in as you did when initially registering as if you were registering again and take the on-line registration option on the left of the screen as you would have done and it gives a proof of registration option. Click on that and then scroll down to the bottom of the new window that opens up and click on print-friendly option and you can print it off.

I registered on a PC not attached to a printer and printed it off on my own PC later. It is very straightforward.

as i mentioned earlier, that prooves only that you registered, not paid, the two are seperate.

you still aren't fecked carlow boy, if the payment went through (as i gather it did) then it will show up on your bill/statement and that's plenty of proof.

and no, continuing students do not receive packs, they received an e-mail to the best of my knowledge, directing them to their portal page where there is a link for online registration.

I hope you do get your pack today limerick dude.

ok so just to be clear, that 'success' page with the order number, transaction reference etc. on it is proof of payment of fees and so thats what i bring when im collecting my student id???
i dont need to do anything else now??

I'm going to give them a ring anyway. Just to be sure. It was laser though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭cocoa

yes, that or if you like some sort of bank statement (or the other part of the giro for people who went that way)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

Thanks heaps Coca, you've been a great help. That's info I couldn't get from the fees office as its impossible to navigate it on the phone!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,312 ✭✭✭Limerick Dude

    Got my pack today, thankfully.

Are there still loads of problems with registering online because i was thinking i might leave doing it until all the problems are sorted, knowing me ill end up paying a few grand haha :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

Limerick dude, on the phone I was told that when prompted for fees online, type in 863 instead of the 5 grand. (876 if you want to join the bar), then print off the grid that comes up after as proof.

no problem carlow boy (if you want a more direct line to the fees office, as in speaking to an actual person, go to dcu.ie, search for staff on the left, go to finance. call anyone under studetn fees)

limerick dude, don't quote me on this (fired for self-deprecation, lol) but the problems probably won't be fixed before registration ends, but they aren't that bad.

just go through the steps in the order they appear, and ignore the amount due if it's anything above a grand, just pay 863 or 876 if you wanted bar membership

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,312 ✭✭✭Limerick Dude

    Little help please!

Now im on the second last step and it says amount due is 5882, and there is nowhere to edit it, should i 'proceed' and can i edit it on the next page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,269 ✭✭✭cocoa

yes, when you are entering your card details there is a box for amount being paid, that's the one you want.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,312 ✭✭✭Limerick Dude

    876 so yeah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,152 ✭✭✭carlowboy

    Yep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,312 ✭✭✭Limerick Dude

Thanks man, thats done and dusted now!

thanks a lot for the help cocoa, would have been lost without it;)

What do u pay if you are a recipient of the grant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭c0rk3r

You just pay 38euro plus the 13euro(?) membership fee for the "city centre club" Another trick by Dcu to cause more confusion. Why couldnt they just say campus bar. Why do we even pay a fee anyway. Does UCD, Trinity or any of the Dit's?

I also had the anxiety, stress, frustration, anger worrying about the 6 thousand tutition fee until i got an email of the fees department. Its such a mess this year.

    Great start to the year
