TBD is the celebrity player right?

3.55pm: The World Cup is under way, and it's first blood to Romania. Pre-flop, it's passed round to Derek Murray, of Ireland, on the button, who raises. Razvan Bengulescu, in the small blind, calls. Both players check an all-diamond flop, then Derek bets 300 when a fourth diamond turns. Razvan calls. On the jack of spades river, Ravzan bets 1,000 and Derek folds.

4.10pm: Action slows for a while, until Michael Watson steals a couple of pots for Canada. The first is a standard pre-flop raise, the second after he calls a pre-flop raise then check-raises a low rainbow flop. Greg Raymer, of Team USA, then joins the fun, raising from the cut-off, slipping on the lizard-eye specs, then taking it down on the turn with a 400 bet.

played against him once before, he is terrible, one of the worst ive palyed with. I remember him open raising and getting it all in with 56o at the final table of a tournament in Vegas against my QQ.

Sometimes I wish you'd use tags. It's easy to know when, say, RoundTower or HJ are being sarcastic, but it's still a bit tough with you.

    fireworks there now from thestarsblog

World Cup heat 2 - all the action

12.40am: We might end up setting a peculiar precedent here: the first poker tournament where all the players are blinded away. There's still a marked lack of action, with the small stacks occasionally moving in but no one calling. However, as the blinds go up the fireworks are certain to go off any moment.

Enjoyable day yesterday.....Derek played pretty well as did Joe. Gotta remember this structure is most definitely designed for tv (5k starting stacks, blinds 50/100 25 min levels). After 2 hours it's 200/400 and generally the average is still 5k, last night it got to 400/800 with 7 players left.

We didnt get the rub of the green in Heat 1. For example, at 150/300 level Derek was walked in his bb whilst holding AA. At that stage of the game a walk was unheard of! Then he was faced with the AK decision.

The Live Streaming is delayed about 30 mins and i think slightly edited, he thought for a couple mins before calling there.....it's an instacall in a individual event (blinds 300/600 open push from Rock UTG 3k def a pair or AK, protection reraise by big stack AK thru 99 type of range prob, derek 3.4k bb), in the context of the team event it takes a little bit of thought....if in folding the Canadian knocked the Portuguese lad out, then we move up a spot and he still has chips (albeit very short).

Im sure it's very doable to come up with an equation where you can factor the points into your thinking on a decision....but in practise out there it's pretty tough.

Im playing today im in Seat 8, Negreanu in Seat 7. Bit of a hangover from last night thankfully so im not thinking too much about strategy. Hopefully i can play well and get some points on the board.

** The celebrities were drawn in Heats at random, then the captains drew cards from A - 8 representing the order they could pick a player in 1 of the heats. That process took about an hour on camera lol. We were delighted to have Mick as an anchorman, we're just hoping now we can get enough points on the board so we dont leave him with a tough ask in his heat.
