I'd just use my own boots at Kilternan and then use their skis. Apart from the difficulty of me gettin my ski's there on my bike, I'd just not want to risk messing them up too much from the surface so I stick with the club skis.

Just back from a week in Soll in Austria and booked with Direct Ski and said I'd throw in my 2c on Kilternan.

I did the 4 beginner lessons in Kilternan and then went for one practice run after that. I booked the Learn to Ski pack with direct ski. When we arrived on the first morning to get boots and skis etc we spoke to our reps and she told us we could upgrade, that the learn to ski pack was for people who had never skied before and who couldn't even put on skis. We had to upgrade our school passes and our lift pass as the learn to ski pass is for 5 days and not 6 days (about 70Euro for the two upgrades). I was really nervous doing the classification test. I pretty much snow ploughed down the hill with a few snow plough turns. Everyone before me was doing parallel turns down the slope. They put myself and my friend in what I reckon was the lowest intermediate class. There was nothing to worry about. They have a class for all levels.

On the first day after lunch we got taken to the mid station and did our first proper blue run. We learned half parallel turns on the 2nd day and we did our first red run on the 3rd day. People left our class and went down a level and people also joined our class to step back a level.

I've just entered my ski pass details on the ski welt website and I used the chair lifts 76 times and did a total downhill distance of 81km. I had the most enjoyable holiday ever and it's all down to Kilternan.

I was talking to two different learn to ski groups. The were taken up to the mid station and the same blue run I did on day one on their 3rd or 4th day. One guy's class were brought up to my first blue run in a learn to ski group on his 4th day to be brought straight back down to the nursery slopes because they weren't ready.

Don't get me wrong, Kilternan is totally different to the snow but if you want to get the most out of your holiday I would definately do the 4 beginner lessons.
