Right, I've been shouting this out for ages now.

There's a load of us here from Waterford, and plenty more that ened to get outta Dublin for some fresh air...Or down from Galway to come face to face with modern technology.

So, Lets have a weekend in Waterford.

Firstly, who's up for it? Accomodation can be sorted out after we have numbers & a date. I have a bit of room in my place anyways.

And where to go, would be next on the agenda. The coast is probably our best bet, but if we were to do one day (Sat) down towards Dungarvan, Lismore, head over to the Comeraghs, and back that evening, and the following morning (Sun) to Woodstown, Passage, Cheekpoint, Tramore & Dunmore, back through the city then for some grub, and let the travellers head off about 6.

    What say ye?

Of course, this would involve the obligitory piss up in Down's on Saturday night, with Roen supplying the Green Chatreuse...

More ideas for Waterford gladly accepted too.

Would a complete idiot newbie with a small sony digital camera, and an addiction to the auto setting be allowed to tag along for an hour or two at a couple of those places?

I promise I wont talk and I'll put my hand up if I have a burning question! I'd just really like to learn how to use this camera properly for starters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    Of course ye would!

You'd learn a fair bit tbh, and most likely have some good craic.

However we do not accept any responsibility if you buy a shedload of camera gear off the internet after the meetup...

I'm game if I'm free when this is being arranged, don;'t have transport of my own so that means bumming a lift off somebody to get to all these lovely places :)

I'll be in Wexford at the weekend at 8th September finishing my Rally Team project at Wexford Rally http://www.irish-rallying.com/article.php?article_id=070405/130744.
Not to mention that I should order some more films to get ready for all other occasions. So if the term looks good, I could take part in slagging and shooting. And eating.
Fajitas - could you get some "food" sponsors? The boardie meeteing was nice also thanks to "shroomz" :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

Actually, I had just been thinking the weekend of the 8/9th could work out very well!

I doubt the Admins would be able to give us sponsership, as far as I know, the food last time was bought out of profit from the ads, and there ain't a whole pile of it!

I could, however, get good prices in a fantastic Italian place in Waterford...

I'll be around to lend an air of panache to the proceedings.
Oh and I have a car and some fancy lenses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    Stop lying Ronnie.

Feck it I have something planned for that weekend already. Itching to give the new car a "run" and will have a new lens to try out (Yes Al I was bold and ordered that one we were talking about from Kea!).

A might here, though I'd love to go to Waterford. I could practice my duelling banjo's with the natives..............ouch! Sorry, hope Ken McGrath isn't reading this.

Whenever it suits to most of the people. But not the very last weekend in September - I'll be driving along the coast again. And there is National Ploughing Championship in Tullamore before that weekend.

    date depending, I'm there.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 28,536 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cabaal

Well I have to head to somewhere either this weekend or 8/9th (has to be one or other) and this would be easier for me to head to then Foto (given I'm living in Waterford)

After that I'm booked weekend of 15th and 22nd but as far as I know I'm free after that :)

    Thats my calandar :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,319 ✭✭✭sineadw

Seriously doubtful here :( I start classes the week after and I'm already booked for a week in Cork/Galway/Kerry in Oct and over to England in Nov. Babysitting service requests would kind of be taking the mick.

    Then again, you never know..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

would like to go but I don't appear to have a weekend off until sometime in November at the moment.

Eeekkkkkkkk When the hell am i going to wash clothes?

Count me out I guess. Al, really sorry, sounds great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    Hmmm, might be October then!

Paul, it really is a beaut of a lens, you won't be dissapointed!

I'm shooting a wedding with Elven in Scotland on the weekend of the 15th, and a golf tourney in Manchester the weekend of the 27th (processing that weekend I reckon)... That leaves the 23rd open too though...

And Danny, the Butterfly Band'll give your trad a run for it's money :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,620 ✭✭✭Roen

In Santiago De Compostella for the first week of Oct :), so that'll be a car with three spaces down if it's then.

    Jackpot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,357 ✭✭✭JMcL

The 8/9th, and last weekend of Sept, are the only ones that aren't good for me. Other than that, any other weekend is good. I've a car with plenty of space to offer too

Later in September isn't actually that bad a thing coast wise. The sunset is far enough south to not just disappear behind the cliffs from mid-september onwards

Anyway, just to tempt yeez waverers, here's one from last week:

Count me in. I'm pretty sure I don't have anything that important planned in September but I might be in Canterbury for a weekend in October.

    Just set a date.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40 amie.g

A might here for 8th/9th Sept after that busy until October. Heading to Scotland for a week 22nd- 30th Sept hope to get some good shots!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,445 ✭✭✭bovril

might pop down too, have never been down that way (well I was once for a RAG trip, but that doesn't really count). I'd be getting bus or train from Dublin. Let me know the dates, there is only one weekend in Sept that I am not around.

Moonlight in Woodstown tonight.. I told you I was crap at this.

    Woodstown_Moon.jpg

I used my Sony DSC W35.. and took 27 photos.. all of which were sh!te. No matter what I did.. they either came out flashy or dark and blurry.

I really need someone to show me how to use this. The dodgy Arab guy I bought it from in Dubai told me it was capable of great things! Aren't we all :)

    Here's the baby now..

There's a deadly moon out tonight actually.

I've seen much worse attempts than that Trotter, just need to keep the camera a bit more still!

    How's the fising going? ;)

It was an amazing sight to see a big silver carpet of tiny fish dying off and the baby mackerel coming in to get the ones in the shallow water.

A spot of dynamite in the water was required.. but seemingly thats unsporting.
I'd have fed Croke Park with that approach :p

I tried soo hard to keep that camera still and as soon as I turn the flash off at all or choose a flashless setting.. it says Im shaking the camera.

    Im FKIN not!!!! lol

Try resting the camera on something, like a bag, or jacket on the sand?

Before Rymus, Mikeanywhere or Leinsterman come along, that fising is supposed to say fishing. Nothing else!

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 28,536 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cabaal

    haha, yeah fishing sure.....

so are we any closer to setting a date for this meet?

Trotter, for somebody just holding a camera I have to say thats a pretty good moon shot,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

No closer to setting a date. Bah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

    Middle of october, ftw!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    So, middle of October?

I haven't posted much in this forum, would it be ok if I tagged along?
I'm thinking of getting myself a new toy this November....and would love to meet up and learn some tricks from the experts here if you'll have me ?

Oh, if thats ok and some people in South Dublin or Wicklow need a lift than I can take a few if needed :)

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,699 ✭✭✭ThOnda

Fajitas - set a poll what date it shouldn't be and the date with least votes will be the date of down-under meet-up.
By the way, I am there next weekend, so shall I bring my laptop with me for some late night action? :-)

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 28,536 Mod ✭✭✭✭Cabaal

Next weekend would be useful, other then that middle of Oct is fine by me :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,620 ✭✭✭Roen

Middle Oct is cool, poll would be a good idea though as Th0nda suggested.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,185 ✭✭✭nilhg

Is Charleville not roughly middle of Oct as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

A poll can lead to deadlock...

    Saturday 13th of Oct?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,362 ✭✭✭Trotter

I'm looking forward to this.. I'll be the greatest challenge ye ever came across :D

Incidentally... I decided to give it another shot tonight. I'm getting there.
