What a fantastic episode. That was 1 of the best and omg I can't believe Phil Hellmuth actually did a decent bluff! I have to give him respect for that.
Another thing, how was that brandon guy, he was really tilting me throughout the show. What has he ever done to earn the right to be on this?
Anyway, top start, looks like a great season.

I don't think people have to earn to be on there, I think once you just pony up the buy in you can play no matter who you are

Come on if they weren't playing 2-7 he would never have double barrled the turn and river, I would say Mikes description is accurate he rarely bets big on the river with air.

Im half way through and much like last season so far they have showed far too much chit chat, it's almost like they want to turn it into a drama show!

Oh yeah, he did it because it was 27 but the fact he doesn't bet big on the river with air makes it all the better

    Why didn't Mike re-raise pre?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,476 ✭✭✭Samba

he put em on Q's you re-raise and you give him a chance to get away from the hand...i can only presume, you could go on to tilt and ask mike yourself :)

Telegraph's his hand maybe? He has position too. I never seen much if any 4-Betting HSP over the last few years.

    I remember Laak used to love 3-betting 44,400 though w/AK limp reraising:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

Great show, I loved PH's 27 hand, it was actually a really good laydown by Mike I didn't think he could make it....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭coillcam

I agree ste05, i's imagine being crushed here. Did you hear Hellmuth afterwards saying,
his decision to bluff Mikey off the pot was made easier as Mikey was only in for 100K

    EDIT:
Gotta feel for the 'Florida' Antonio, he showed some serious cohones but never realised his 4-bet was flat-called! Obviously trying to rep AA/AK he lost 4/5 years salary for some people there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,810 ✭✭✭✭jimmii

Is it showing up ok for everyone? I'm just getting a black screen?

I don't recall any of the episodes from series 3 being as fun as this one was. The Florida Antonio hand made me cringe.

Samba, regarding the chit-chat/drama show - It's one of the things i like about the show. I think it makes for a nice change from watching stuff like the wsop and the tournament tv shows which tend to be a lot dryer.

    I don't get this website (boards.ie).

You have a show that's aired on a US channel - GSN - which we can't get over here yet the mods won't let people mention how to view episodes of the show. Meanwhile, we have a huge thread in the soccer forum on how to view Premiership matches live over the web and there's no problem there??

Linking or talking about torrent sites aren't allowed. I've no idea how the soccer forum and streamed matches works.

Youtube/pokertube are allowed since they usually remove any content when requested to. Torrents are alot more sketchy.

Afaik, the soccer streams come from stations based in Asia where streaming is either legal, or the law isnt enforced. So i think watching these streams is legal but im open to correction. ;)

I would imagine so, should liven things up a bit. Although, in fairness to mark, he doesnt need a prop bet to put serious amounts of money in the pot on a sevenduece bluff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,476 ✭✭✭Samba

To be fair Ed, all televised tourney poker is just plain boring :)

OOOooo, he has AK, omg he's called with pocket 9's!

watch LATB, there are episodes up on tbp, some quality cash game play and commentary there, less mainstream albeit.

I would honestly prefer to watch the likes of Matusow play rather than talk...

All in all you are right though, huge improvement on last Season which was very arid.

back thurs mornin, might use it as a sat for the monkey game in the S.E

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,039 ✭✭✭Theresalwaysone

Will ye be sitting in the 2/5 game? Heard its meant to be a good game if not mostly a tough table.

Seven Dewy game should be started though, will make things awful confusing for the hordes of drunks coming in and seeing us doing the dough with 72. cue many "your a donkey", "your such a fish" remarks from clueless punters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 909 ✭✭✭AKQJ10

i played the first one of these and didnt enjoy the game as it was me, halfbaked, trippie, conor b, ross, gibbo, sammy, ravi and kingsley. and ravi and kingsley were just nut peddling. it was definitely a bad game to play but i heard its gotten better.

yes, i fully agree, the 2/7 bluff is mainly a macho/pride/ego thing which is why it worked so well on HSP

also, Helmuth used TLS in his one big bluff which i thought was interesting!

Any views on Todd Brunson's feint to call $10k in the hand aginst Phil Laak? A serious angle shoot imo. The chips were practically on the felt before he pulled back. Plus he knows Laak is a nut peddler in cash games hence the reason he didn't raise with his top pair and fd on the turn and then when Laak bets for value on the river he starts to get attached to top pair bad kicker??? wtf?

Also his call of Phl Hellmuth's value bet with AJ on a AT98X was pretty ropey I thought.

Marc TLS = Tournament Life Syndrome. Mike is only playing with one buyin and wants to stay on tv and PH used that when deciding to bluff.

I think it should be enforced as a call.

same as if some1 checks then has his cards over the line with hand as if motioning to fold to action but(one dublin player uses this move on occassion with the nuts)
