I'm going to start going to the gym in september when back in college. I'm very skinny and just want to keep my fitness level up. Is spinning classes the quickest way to get fit?

I hear that step classes don't tone your bum so I was wondering what the best toning exercise is?

you could... it's not going to do much for you though  There's a slight variation of that called the goblet squat that's fantastic for increasing flexibility and depth on your squats but they won't really change the shape of your bum.

When you say 'tone' what exactly do you mean? Make it bigger? Smaller? More rounded? Perkier? Harder?

    Oh and thanks jsb :p

I thought you said you were very skinny??

Doing squats and/ or related glute exercises won't make your bum smaller - your diet will do that. But what they will do is lift it and firm it up, and they'll also help with hip strength and even reduce the risk of lower back problems.
